I will be travelling with two of my daughters who will then be 14 and 17, on a 5 day Magic cruise. I booked a magic porthole room that has the pull down bed but noticed a navigator ‘s verandah room with very little obstruction is available for less than $ 500.00 more. It only has the two beds however so I would have to share with one which isn’t too great an issue. Not quite sure what to do.

I don't imagine y'all would spend much time on the veranda. Ask the girls if they'd rather have the balcony or $150 each to spend (see what I did there?). I think we know the answer!

I'm going to reply to myself! If you're looking for total down time for yourself, then the balcony could be worth it! Bring your wine on board, restock at every port, totally relax in private since your girls are old enough to be out and about on their own. Yeah, that actually might be worth $500. Really comes down to you. P.S. With enough wine sharing the bed is not an issue. (jk, people)

For a 5-night Caribbean cruise with little to see, I'd save my money and keep the oceanview porthole room.

Do you mean "Magic porthole" as in "an oceanview room on the Magic" or do you mean "magic porthole" as in "the inside rooms that have a fake porthole where it looks like you're looking at the ocean but it's really a video?" If #2, the ship Magic doesn't have magic portholes.

Regarding veranda vs. oceanview - my personal metric is if the cruise has 2+ days at sea, I go for a balcony. If the cruise has one or zero days at sea, the balcony doesn't get used by us very much so we don't usually book a balcony unless it's a scorching deal.

It really depends on the type of schedule you have. If you are going to be very busy and spend less than 30 min per day on it, I would stick to the ocean view as there are many spots on the ship where you can watch the ocen (Deck 4 exterior is almost always empty and there are benches chairs and loungers there).

If you are going to relax a lot then it could be a good investment.

However, I would check if there aren't activities that are available that I would enjoy more than sitting on a verandah... Like, a day pass to the spa (rainforest)? That's just an example.
