My friend and I are going to be visiting Disney on a school trip (we are both 16) and we wanted to choose a good restaurant. I've been to Disney every year since i was 3 so i should know which restaurant to choose by now but I'm at a loss! We really have absolutely no preferences in cuisine and character meals would be perfectly cool as well (but not totally necessary). Basically, we just want to know your opinion of the BEST restaurant out of these choices (only ones available for our time frame):

-Crystal Palace (can you see the fireworks from here? our reservation would be at 9:20 p.m.)
-1900 Park Fare
-Boatwrights (i've never even heard of this one?)
-Boma (i LOVE Boma, but i'm open to other options too)
-Cape May
-Cap'n Jacks
-Captain's Grille
-Garden Grove
-Grand Floridian Cafe
-Kona Cafe
-Kouzzina
-Liberty Tree Tavern
-Maya Grill
-Olivia's Cafe
-Raglan Road (we came here last year and i wasn't WOWED but maybe i just ordered the wrong thing..)
-Sanaa (once i again, i LOVE this restaurant!)
-Shutter's
-Tony's
-Trail's End
-The Wave
-Whispering Canyon Cafe

BTW we're going to be there for dinner. Thanks so much for all of your help!

No, you can't see fireworks from inside Crystal Palace. I've seen lots of positive things about the food, though. If you like Pooh character greets, go for it.

I would say stay away from Captain Jack's. Just wipe it from your brain. Every review I've seen on this place for years...absolutely horrible.

Of the list, I like:

Boma
Cape May
Kona Cafe
Raglan Road (I liked what I ordered, but I LOVED the bread and butter pudding dessert!)
Sanaa

I haven't tried Kouzzina or The Wave, but those are on my list of places to try. I would be happy with any of those choices, but your tastes may or may not agree with mine.

My vote from that list, since you have already tried Sanaa and Raglan would be Wave at Contemporary.

Garden Grove for breakfast is our favorite spot, if you need a breakfast place.

Considering the restaurants that you noted you had dined at and liked and if you want to try something new I would choose The Wave.

Just curious, since I have and will be again chaperoning a large school group to WDW, will you be permitted to leave a park or resort to go to a meal on your own?

When we are with our students at Disney (and there will be about 200 of them) if we are in MK for the day, the students are NOT permitted to leave MK.

I guess it works differently with your group?

Yep! I think that is partially because one of our main chaperones is my mother though and she knows how safe Disney property is. We are able to go anywhere on Disney property as long as we remain in groups of two and have the advanced permission of a chaperone.

and thanks everyone! I actually decided to go with Boma because i just can't get enough of their food! I'm going back to Disney with my family in late July and we aren't going to have a chance to eat at Boma so i figured i might as well jump on this chance! :)

Great choice!! I was going to vote Boma. It's my family's favorite and our must-do each trip! Yum!!

I was going to say Boma as well. You can never go wrong with a favorite! :)

Check the menus in advance to make sure it appeals to you.

From your list, I'd say Whispering Canyon is a good choice if you'd like a fun, loud, rowdy meal and like to laugh a lot.

If you love seafood, try the Cape May buffet - that will give you the best variety of seafood options.

Start going through some of the dining reviews on this website... see what places grab your attention from there!

Also realize that going to resort restaurants might take up a good deal of travel time (waiting for bus there might take 20 min or longer, and the same could happen on the way back). If you don't want to miss too much fun time in the parks, then stick with a restaurant in a park that you'll be in. I think Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree probably would get the best reviews if you want to stay in Magic Kingdom.

Wonderful choice!!! Boma is the place my DS17 chooses every trip. :goodvibes Love the desserts, salads, soups, meats.......well everything!!!!!
