Another Signature Restaraunt

I'll be going solo to WDW in May. I already have ADRs for: Raglan Road, Kona, Grand Floridian Cafe, 50's Prime Time, Le Cellier, Rose & Crown, Chef's de France, and Cape May Cafe. Since I've been to Raglan Road before and am already going to Rose & Crown I'm thinking about trying something different. Which of these restaraunts would you prefer to go to solo and what would you order?

Boy, that was an easy one for me to answer! I'd go to Jiko's. They have a bar area overlooking the show kitchen. I saw it for the first time when I was taking a tour at AKL. And I'd order the butternut squash soup (which is probably the best non-dessert in WDW0 and the halibut. For dessert, I don't know-I haven't meet a dessert I didn't like, so I'll take anything as long as I get the appetizer and main course I want.

I agree with everything you've said! The bar area, in English, is called "The Cooking Place" . It is truly a warm and inviting place for a solo diner. I have been seated twice in the regular dining area, and 3 times at the Cooking Place. While each was very good, my times spent at the Cooking Place were my favorite. Service was exceptional and the chefs will talk to you and answer any questions. I also found other diners here, at the Cooking Place, were very friendly, even though they were dining with family.Jiko would certainly be my pick!

Adding my voice to the Jiko contingent. The tamarind-braised beef short rib darn near makes me give up being a vegetarian. :) (But since I am, their veggie entree is good, too.)

Jikos hands down! The steak served on macaroni and cheese. I know at first sound you are thinking macaroni and cheese at an expensive restaurant. . . It's so good! I am going on my trip in April.

OK majority rules. I just changed my ADR from Raglan Road to Jikos and I'm going to request to sit at the 'Cooking Place'. What else is good?

I went to Wolfgang Puck's (the upstairs) in September with MIL,FIL, BIL, SIL, nephew and 2 nieces. It was the best meal that I have ever eaten in my life!! I ordered the Wienerschnitzel Kartoffelsalat - crispy veal cutlet and warm Austrian potato salad. FIL and I both ordered this meal. I lived in Germany for 3 years (with DH) and hadn't had any Schnitzel since I left there in 2001. It was fabulous. My SIL/BIL both ordered the Pan-Roasted Organic Half Chicken - wood roasted wild mushroom jus with potato puree and they enjoyed it as well. MIL ordered the Char-broiled Filet Mignon - roasted squash, sauteed spinach, and grilled portobello with port wine veal sauce and loved her meal as well!

I am hoping to book dinner there for my trip over Xmas week with DH (after his return from Afghanistan). It was truly delicious and had a wonderful atmosphere. I especially enjoyed the open kitchen area and watching the chef's prepare the meal.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

I like Jiko, Artist Point, and the California Grill. Enjoy your trip!
