We use our jacuzzi all of the time. I think the novelty wore off about 15 years ago.

My parents have a hot tub and use it CONSTANTLY. I used it constantly when I still lived in St. Louis and housesat for them (or was sore from working out or whatever), and my brother uses it regularly as well. They have more than gotten their money's worth out of it. IMO, I'd go with the hot tub, as it can be used as long as you live in the house--it's not over in a week.

Oh, and upkeep is minimal at best. Just stay on top of the H2O chemistry and you'll have no problems.

Take the cruise and book a room with a veranda! Then spend your evenings out there w/ your husband after the little one goes to sleep. I love veranda time on a cruise. Cruising with a baby is fine!

Then save a little at a time for a small jacuzzi after the 2nd baby. We bought a large one and we didn't need that.

Eh, don't NOT get one because of the kid. My friend has a hot tub and it has a LOCKING cover. They DO make those.

With that said, I'd still pick the cruise, although a cruise with a baby doesn't sound all that appealing.

I agree. been there done that twice. Didn't learn the first time. Honestly the child is too young to enjoy any of the areas and there will be no peace and relaxation on a ship. Just not enough running around space and the pools wont allow them.

Not saying not to take the vacation over the hot tub though! I would definitely pick the vacation.:thumbsup2

We had a backyard hot tub when our boys were ages 3 - 17, and they enjoyed playing in it and DH & I enjoyed sitting in it in the evening. But I'd take the cruise. If your baby travels well, I'd take a nice vacation before #2 comes along. You family dynamics change tremendously after that!

There will be a time several years down the road to put in a hot tub (jacuzzi).

I voted Disney Cruise! My husband's parents have a jacuzzi and when they first got it, we all used it daily, but now the novelty wore off. They also said their electric bill is high from keeping it running hot 24/365.

I'd say cruise. We did DCL with a 6m old and a 2 year old and we had so much fun. There were tons of opportunities for peace and quiet and fun. And they do have a small splash area for babies to use. That's all mine were really ready for anyway. Plus the nursery/clubs for kids are amazing!

While I think a jacuzzi would be nice, I would never buy a house that had one. Unless it was easy to ger rid of, say on a patio. We just started looking again and have seen so many houses that we love until we see the backyard. There's a jacuzzi or pool with decking and massive landscaping to keep privacy and all I think is how are we going to get rid of that?

I voted Hot Tub, we love ours!

Take the cruise in a couple of years when your little one will remember it:thumbsup2

I voted for the cruise (with the baby).

I am one who believes that experiences bring more happiness than things.

For me the jacuzzi would be an experience. ;)
I have chronic pain and there is nothing that helps the pain more than a soak in a hot tub. It's something I'd have forever, compared to something that would be over in a week.
Not to mention the baby thing. We took our baby everywhere too, but a week long cruise in a 150 sq ft stateroom is not something I think any of us would have enjoyed with her.

I would go with the jacuzzi, especially since your DD is only a year old. IMO there will be plenty of time for a cruise in later years when both of your children are older and you can really enjoy a cruise as a family. Right now I would buy and enjoy the jacuzzi until the kids were older. My former boss has a jacuzzi on their deck and they just love it, especially in the winter when there is snow on the ground.

Why not take your baby on a cruise? If you like traveling with your baby and you like cruises...you'll have fun! We traveled with our kids all over the place from the time they were six weeks old. A cruise would be no different....you'll enjoy the meals, time in the splash zone with your dd, shows, etc. You can use the nursery if you want to..... and with lots of families on board, you won't have the only baby.

Hot Tub? Lots of work, lots of $$$ to keep up, and everyone I know who as one doesn't even use it (except those with teenagers....). So buy one when your kids/family are older...

I'd have to say other. Everyone I know who has a jacuzzi never uses it. A cruise with a baby does not sound like fun to me.

I'd find some other major home improvement or renovation instead of a jacuzzi.

It is so funny you asked this question because we are in a similar spot. We REALLY want a hot tub. However we also LOVE cruising DCL. I think if right this instant DH asked me, hot tub or book another cruise (besides the one already booked), I would pick the hot tub!

I would love one too. I don't understand all the people who never use theirs. When we lived in FL we had a pool and everyone kept saying, "Oh you'll never use it and it costs a fortune to maintain yada yada yada", but we loved it. It's just DH and myself in our household and I used that pool almost every single day.

I am sitting here this snowy day just wishing I had a hot tub so badly!

Me too. I'd love to melt away in a hot tub on a day like this...
