And why? Do you feel that either one of the parks is geared more to a certain age, or that there is a variety of everything in each park? What do you like best for each park?

Disneyland, hands down. Almost 60 years of history, when we walk through the turnstile it feels like we're home. Walt Disney lived in Disneyland when the park was being built. His apartment is still there, with the light on. I love DCA, but I'd turn it back into a parking lot in a minute if I had to choose a park!

I love them both, and both are great for all ages. I would choose Disneyland. There is just nothing like walking where Walt walked.

Park-hopper tickets!!! Definitely purchase a park-hopper!!!
In response to your question, I prefer Disneyland. California Adventure has Cars Land, but Disneyland has far more to do in it. The feeling you get while walking through Main Street on the way to the castle is indescribable!

DCA is really fun.
Disneyland is memorable. It's an experience. It makes everyone in my family act like a child :yay:

If I could only choose one park, I would pick DL because there seems to be a wider variety of things I like to do, more dining options that I like, and I much prefer to the evening entertainment (fireworks and Fantasmic) at DL. DCA is a lot of fun (I really like Carsland, TSMM, Mad T Party, and Carthay Circle), but I could probably feel like I've missed less if I didn't go to DCA while down at DLR.

I do think both parks have things to do for all ages. Both parks have rides for little kids, thrill seekers, show watchers, etc.

We have park hopper passes for all 5days that we are there, and that being said I have never been to DCA, and I am still more excited to hit DL with my kids. I know that DCA will be a lot of fun, but Disneyland is Disneyland :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! We have been to both parks, but it has been awhile. And now since my kids are older, they will both be able to enjoy it. Does anyone know if they have fireworks at DL in Feb.?

As disneychrista said, fireworks are generally only presented on Fri, Sat, and Sun in February. They did present it on President's Day (Monday, 2/17) this year.

Disneyland overall, but I MUCH prefer the food at DCA. Last time I was there I ate all my meals at DCA or the hotels.

DL is why you go. DCA is why you stay for more than just one or two days. As much as Tower of Terror is a tied #1 ride for me, as Cars Land is incredible, as Bug's Land is an escape, and as cool as Soarin' is..... it just can't match up with DL. Of all the Disney parks I've hit in CA and in FL, DL is the best. Even better than Epcot...but just barely.;)

Never make me choose! That's why I always get hoppers. :rotfl:

If I absolutely HAD to pick one then it would be DL. DCA is a great, great park and I would hate to miss it, but DL would be my choice. Even with DCA's shorter hours, I don't know that I've ever spent a full day there without hopping.

dca is super fun, but yep--dl all the way!! the history of the park has an enormous impact for me.

No question, Disneyland. It just has a certain magical feeling that to me, DCA does not.

DCA has more older kid/teen rides, but even my 14 year-old, who is the daredevil of the group and will ride ToT and CS over and over, will opt to go to DL on our last day in the parks. We all agree on this.

Besides the "magic," DL literally feels cooler to me. There's more shade. When I'm in DCA, sometimes I feel like I just can't get out of the heat. Or even when I do, then minute I walk back outside it just feels stiflingly hot. I don't normally feel that way at DL.

What I like best about DL --the magic. Fantasyland, Main Street, feeling Walt's influence in the park, POC, trees, Rivers of America, and shade.

What I like best about DCA -- a more sophisticated feel in some parts, eating at the Alfresco Terrace, Carsland at night.
