and are you happy with them?
I currently have AT&T (for about 15 years now), but, thinking about changing to Verizon.
Would love to hear pros/cons of each :)

Just switched from Cingular/AT&T/Cingular to VirginMobile and have been very happy with it. It costs about 75% less!

If you ever expect to travel overseas, stick to AT&T or T-Mobile... otherwise, Verizon's fine.

I have Sprint w/unlimited plan, G/F has AT&T. Seem to be about the same coverage wise.

We switched from Cingular/AT&T to US Cellular a little over a year ago. AT&T was eliminating the plan that we had and all of the new plans were going to be twice what we had been paying.

We got a better deal with US Cellular. Because all incoming calls, texts, pictures and mobile-mobile are free with them, we were able to go with a much smaller package. They also had better coverage for some of the areas that we go to often (The Dells area in WI and KY Lake).

The best company for you really depends on where you live and where you use your phone the most. I've been with almost all of them - T-Mobile, Nextel, Sprint, Cingular. Now I'm with Verizon and they've by far been the best for where I use my phone. T-Mobile the worst, followed by Cingular as second worse.

Verizon has a 30-day trial, so give them a try and see how they work for you. I did. They even gave me temporary numbers so I wouldn't have to cancel my Cingular account and port the numbers over right away in case I didn't like Verizon. Needless to say, Verizon worked everywhere I went and I've been with them going on 3 years now. Their service just gets better and better.

i also have Verizon and have had virtually no issues with them in the 3 or so years I've had them. I previously had AT&T, and Nextel, and Cingular. I had lots of dead spots with all of them, not as much with Verizon (unless you count the elevator in my office building!-that is the only place I have no signal.)

Im a Verizon fan but I don't go out of the country much.

Just to explain why it matters if you travel overseas... Verizon's network uses CDMA technology, which is primarly used in the US. Cingular uses GSM, which is sort of the world standard. Approximately 82% of the global cellular market uses GSM. That doesn't necesarilly mean it's better. It's cheaper to implement than CDMA, but CDMA (by its inherent design) gives you better call quality and fewer dropped calls. Anyway, if you travel abroad with a CDMA-only phone, you will probably not get cell service. That's why if you frequenty travel overseas, you may not want Verizon. But even with Verizon, you have some options. They now carry a couple "world" phones that can operate on both CDMA and GSM networks. Or, if you do happen to travel abroad once in awhile, just go to Wal-Mart and buy a $20 pre-praid GSM phone to use while you're there.

tmobile for past 5.5 years and I have been very happy w them! Great customer service:wizard:

I have had Verizon since up here it was Bell Atlantic! That was back in what? 1997? 1998? even thou I have had the service I have gotten second phones thru all other services. And I have to say, Verizon has out done them ALL! No dropped calls, always get a signal etc. I have been looking at AT&T ONLY because I want the iPhone. I hate the thought of going that way!

I did just get the iTouch, I am going to try that if not I will have to go to AT&T but I will not like it!!

I've had AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. AT&T is my favorite and its what I have right now. Unless something drastic happened, I personally won't change again. They have the best customer service, and 99% of my friends and family have AT&T so I talk tot hem all for free.

Go with the provider with the most cell towers/ less dead spots. Sure you might have to pay a little more or get less of a discount, but how important is that that your call not get dropped or if you hit multiple dead spots?

It likely depends on your location. I have had AT&T and NEXTEL prior to switching to Verizon. Verizon has had better coverage for my area. I havent had to deal with customer service yet though!:)

I am with sprint and have been happy with them. I like their phone upgrade program which has gotten better over the last year or two. My whole family kids included like the more upscale phones. My 2 dd's 10 and 11 have the palm centro and can IM me on my computer. I don't really see well enough to text easily so this is helpful to me when they are out and about. My son has an instinct which is alot like an Iphone. We got all of these at a good deal. The one thing is they didn't tell me the instint required it's own plan which ticked me off but they ended up giving me a credit so that calmed me down. We have a 3000 minute plan on our first 5 phone lines and I think 450 on the seperate one on my sons. All of us have unlimted text and data which is nice, we will have to figure out how to use all the bells and whistles but this is a plan we can grow into.
We have been with them for years with no problems and get a 25 percent off discount on the entire plans because the manager gave it to me, shhhh don't tell anyone I am not a postal worker. I have been overseas with my phone and gotten coverage someplaces and others not so much but I need to call the next time I leave the country and see which phones will work overseas.

I was with Verizon for three years, absolutely loved the service, never had any problems. This past July I bought the iPhone and switched to AT&T. As of Tuesday 30 Sept 2008 I switched back to Verizon.

The AT&T network is horrible. I never had so many dropped calls and call failures in my life. I loved my iPhone but it was useless if I could make and hold phone calls. As of today my iPhone is on Ebay and the auction ends Sunday.

Havent had one dropped call now that I'm back with Verizon.

Oh and when I went to the Dominican Republic in June, I was the only person with cell phone service, and that was with Verizon; everyone elses phone didnt work if they were with another carrier

The Dominican Republic is one of the few countries that has a decent pre-existing CDMA infrastructure (thanks to Centennial). It is possible to get service with Verizon/Sprint, but without a worldphone (both CDMA & GSM) it's mostly limited to our hemisphere.

Pull out your Verizon handset in England or Germany and try to find a signal.
