OK, the large family (grand gathering) trip has been postponed for a year, so were going ahead and planning *our* family trip. Weve finally decided on October. Weve never been in October, so the question becomes which week. No matter which week we go, I need to pull my oldest out of school, and thats fine with me. The principle doesnt care (as long as he does all the make-up work) and he is ahead of curve in most areas academically.
We could o 9/27-10/5 and be there over our anniversary. School will still be in review so our oldest wont miss anything important. Hes really bored enough in school. Problem is DH really isnt *supposed* to take a vacation in September (or March, December, June, July, and August); however, it will only be two days and they cant technically stop him. Also, Im hoping the Halloween party wont be crowded at all yet.
We could go 10/4-10/12. School should just be finishing up review this week, so again our oldest shouldnt miss too much. There is no school 10/13, so my kids will have time to rest up before going back to school. Im guessing from the Disney website that this week is a little more crowded than other weeks in October. Im still hoping the Halloween party will be a little on the light side of the crowds.
We could go 10/11-10/19. School will start new info. This week, but it will start slowly. My oldest will only be missing 4 days v. 5 days since there is no school 10/13. And, again, Im guessing from the Disney website that this week is a little more crowded than other weeks in October. Im also guessing that the Halloween party will start kicking it up a notch. Although, we went to MVMCP when it was sold out and didnt find the crowds out of control at all.
We could go 10/18-10/26. By the Disney website, it should be low on crowds. I *know* the Halloween party will start to get busier, but still lighter than the next week. My oldest will still technically miss 5 days, but 10/24 is a half day, so there wont be any academics that day; our school never does academics on a half day.
Last choice is 10/25-11/2. Since 10/24 is a half day of school, we could get a head start on getting there (we drive). It might be fun to be there over Halloween. I wouldnt want to do the Halloween party on 10/31, so Im worried what else my kids might be able to do on Halloween. I hear Downtown Disney has trick-or-treating on Halloween. By Disney Website, crowds should be low this week too.
