Which web Site do you like best to Book Flights?

and why?

Orbitz, Expedia, Cheapflights? any other?

Which?

We like Travelocity. Have used then for several trips, maybe ten, and have always been satified.

Delta's frequent flyer login site gave me much better pricing than travelocity.

You have to be a member of Skymiles, but that's no biggy

I prefer to use the airline's own web site. You can do some research on Travelocity, etc. and then purchase your ticket through the airline directly. I believe that some of the travel sites will charge you a fee ($5 - $10), but the airlines do not, so you could end up with a cheaper ticket price. I have yet to find a ticket price that is cheaper on Travelocity than what the airline is offering, when comparing the same flights.

I have used the American, Delta, Southwest and United web sites with no problem.

I have had good luck with Travelocity and good rates. I just booked with them to fly to Maryland round trip for 2 for $317 total flying Delta. :teeth:

I always do my research on Orbitz or Expedia and then also check the airlines own website. Often I find the fares cheaper at the airlines websites, but not always.

I have used expedia for a few times. I found their rates usually far cheaper. But you have to keep trying.

In October, we booked all our 12 tickets from Toronto to Orlando for next March at expedia but we had to do it a few times because each time we could book 4 max; plus the rate fluctuates from one minute to another minute.

However, it is still worth it because it is really almost $ 80 each cheaper than booking anywhere. You can choose your own seatings after you have booked and we found that really nice.

I have used them all but have come to prefer the Delta Skymiles site. I have found them to be cheaper than the search sites most of the time. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I missed something! There is a separate login for Skymiles members? I am a member but didn't know there was a different login. Are the prices significantly different from the regular web site? I'm kicking myself now for not reading the literature!

I looked at Expedia but bought my tickets through the Continental website.

I found a better rate and a better selection of arrival/departure times at the Continental website.

Good Luck!

to use Hotwire.com~~ However if you are not able to be flexible with your times, then I opt to Travelocity.com...
I flew my son home last year from Seattle to Pittsburgh for $144.00 R/T...:) thru Hotwire.com. Ya can't beat that with a big stick!!
The earlier you get your tickets, the better off you are, price wise...and,
On Travelocity.com -there is a "Fare Watcher" that you can pre-set...you can put in your hometown and the place your wanting to fly to and give it a price your interested in, and when it hits that price...it will email you! It works great!!
:teeth:

Good luck!

Kathy

PS- you can't collect miles if you use hotwire.

I have had good luck with Orbitz, however they do not track our local SouthWest airline. Therefore I downloaded Sidestep.com which carries all airlines and tracks the best prices available.

I would highly recommend downloading Sidestep. When you use Travelocity, Expedia, or Orbitz, they do not show all of the airlines but mainly their preferred ones. When you have Sidestep, a window automatically opens up when you go to one of the other websites (Travelocity, etc.) that shows all of the airlines with their lowest fares available.

Yes you got to delta.com, adn then there is a skymiles login (you may have to register and define a password, but it's free).

From the skymiles login page, you can check your miles, cash in your miles, make reservations, etc. I have never directly compared the rates Delta gives here vs. their regular site, so I can't vouch for sure that they are lower, but the rates and flights I got here beat the pants off of what Travelocity showed for Delta. Many of the flights on the Delta site didn't even show up on Travelocity's site.

We always use Jetblue.com to fly into MCO. You save $5. each way online, their fares are great, and my kids just love their own private tv's. The flight just 'flies' by!

The one thing I have found is... DOn't buy the first price you think is a good one.

Research them all before buying.

I'va always had good luck with Expedia, then after getting the tickets purchased, I found that the AA site had them cheaper!

This was 5 months after I purchased the tickets.

AA was good enough to give me $38 vouchers for each of the 5 tickets I bought!

I use orbitz.com to get an overall idea of what the rates are for my dates and times that I want. For the last couple of years, it's been Delta that's had the best times and rates. Also, they seem to be the only one offering a non-stop flight from Boston (Logan Airport) to Orlando. Another thing; for the airfare that I recently bought for our cruise next summer, Delta's own web site was $6. cheaper per ticket than what orbitz.com showed for Delta. I think it might be due to orbitz charging a fee or something.

I could fly southwest out of Providence, Rhode Island but the idea of waiting until 6 months prior and the idea of not having assigned seats does not interest me in the least. Also, the rates I've seen haven't been much lower, if at all, than what Delta's had.

Thanks A million (actually about $100)

I shopped around, found the flights I wanted, then went right to the airline and saved even more.

Dis-ers are the best!
