I am just wondering which WDW DVD resort has the best 1 bedroom configuration for a family of four. I have a 2 year old and a 2 month old. We will be going there in January and want to get a place. Any advice on Studios would be helpful too. I am just thinking naptime in a Studio might be hard. I appreciate any advice.

All of the WDW DVC 1 bedroom units are configured the same. The only significant difference is that the OKW units are larger and have a separate room for the full size washer and dryer (the other resorts have the stackable washer/dryer in a closet off the entry). Many parents use the laundry room in the OKW units as a "bedroom" for babies/toddlers - the portable Pac 'n Play cribs will easily fit in there. In the other DVC resort 1 bedrooms, the closet (off the Master bedroom/jacuzzi area) is large enough for a Pac 'n Play crib (provided in every DVC unit). Of course, you can always put the little ones in the Master bedroom for naps and enjoy the living room, kitchen & balcony while they sleep.

The studios are not much different than deluxe hotel rooms (except the studios have the kitchenette area). They are basically one room with a bath room. Some parents say they sit on the balcony while little ones nap.

Go with the 1 bedroom if you can - the washer and dryer right in the unit and the jacuzzi tub are big positives when you are traveling with children.

Best wishes -

Thanks CarolMN. you have been sooo helpful. My son is used to sleeping alone so this will be a challenge.

You can actually fit 2 pac n' plays in the closet:teeth:

This may or may not be helpful but nap time is only one consideration. One bedroom is the way to go with that, actually 2 bedroom would be my choice if you can. My advice would be to pick BWV because that pool is very toddler friendly. We went there when my son was 1 1/2 and it was great for him. They have a kiddie pool and playground right near the main pool. He loved going back and forth between them all. He never got bored or restless there. The pool area is also a little more confined and not as spread out. The stairs entering the pool are nice and wide and gret for your 2 year old to play on. SSR also has the zero entry pool with interactive spray/play area. Hope you have a great trip.

At OKW, the laundry room is large enough to make a bedroom for 1 or 2 pac n plays. My suggestion would be to rent a crib for the baby and put the 2 year old in the Pac N Play in the laundry room.

While people are sharing their experiences about pack and plays I wanted to ask a question.

DD (2 tomorrow- woo hoo :cheer2: ) did not have much space lengthways in the pack and play this trip so I am not sure how much longer we can use one. Probably ok for our September trip but by next year we will need another option.

We get a 1 bed villa, where do others have 3 years olds sleep? A ready bed? The pull out? Any tips very welcome.

Also I am pretty sure the master bath closet at SSR was smaller than VWL. I cannot imagine a pack and play fitting in there, but I could be wrong. We put DD in the pack and play by the window in the bedroom on both trips and it worked fine.

I'd suggest the pullout in the living room - unless you are OK with her in the king bed with you and your DH. You can ask Housekeeping for bedrails if there is any concern about her falling out.

Best wishes-

Just wanted to add - I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old - We just got back from OKW today!!

We put the 3 year old to sleep on the floor in the bedroom - we make a bed out of blankets and sheets - put the 1 year old to sleep in the pack n play in the bedroom and then when we go to bed we pick up the pack and play and move him into the living room:)

Have a great time!!!!!

Another Jenny here . . .

The pack n plays fit in the closet in BWV, WLV, but not BCV or SSR. They fit in the laundry room at OKW. Actually, they fit ANYWHERE in OKW--those rooms are huge. There is also a loveseat in addition to the pullout couch in the living room so you could try and put the bedrails on the loveseat.

My 2 1/2 year old (who is over 40" so doesn't fit in the pack and play) sleeps on the pullout couch with bedrails I get from housekeeping. I think he likes the feeling of being contained by the rails. We have also used a single blow up bed in our room for him. He likes it pushed against the wall under the window--again I think he likes feeling like he won't fall out.

As far as resorts, I think BCV has a great sandy area that's only 1-2 feet deep in parts that's great for little ones to play and get wet without worrying about them getting into deeper water. BCV also has a beach which is a nice place for them to play outside when it's nice but not warm enough to swim. SSR has a zero-entry area and pop jet area which is good for little ones. WLV doesn't have the best baby pool, but they do have a beach to play on, and the playground is on the beach which is fun/safe.

I like the 1bd over the studio for the (1) laundry, and (2) kitchen. No matter where we eat dinner, when we get back to the room they say "I'm hungry."

OKW has a kiddie pool with a sandy playground as well.
Definitely go with the 1 bedroom---you love the huge patio/balcony at OKW too. :flower:
