Which way do take from airport to Disney?

  • North to 528 and the I-4

  • South to 417 and then I-4

from the airport? We leave in 5 days and it is our first time with a rental car and not DME. I am seeing 2 routes that seem to take the same amount of time. North to 528 or South to 417. Which do you take? Is there a better or worse route? I am clueless. Thanks!:thumbsup2

My family and I take North 528 - Interstate 4 because when we use to rent from Alamo when they were offsite that was always the way we went when we left from there, so since we started renting at Avis we kept going that route since we know it by heart. Plus there is only one toll both compared to having two of them on 417. Also even though others say 417 is faster when we tried it in December 2007 we didn't think it was any faster and I guess part of that is because you drive along a stretch of road before entering 417.

I always use 417, less traffic and you avoid I-4. There are 2 tolls - $1.25 each. I did take 528 last year when I missed the south exit turnoff (wasn't used to using A terminal), I thought there were 2 tolls of 75 cents each.

Thanks! I don't know if this makes a difference but we are staying at POR and we land at 5:35pm.

North airport exit and left at first light (Frontage Rd.). Pick up 528 westbound at next interchange (#9) about a mile to the west (Conway Rd.). One toll, I think it is a dollar. Takes you to I-4 (go west which is really southwest). Exits for (choice of) Epcot and Osceola Parkway come next.

South exit to 417... get off at exit 6, two tolls $1.25 each.
Avoid I4 during rush hour.

We always take 417 as it is less traffic and much smoother and quicker to I-4. Also it seems to much more easier to watch for exists on 417.

We always take 417. Less traffic, and easy drive to WDW. Also there are several grocery stores (SuperTarget, Albertson's) at exit 11, and it's an easy on/off from 417.

I drive REALLY fast because I can't wait to get to my favorite place in the whole world!
Seriously, we go 417.

I went with the South exit out of the airport and 417. Actually I usually don't wind up on I-4 at all, but I'm usually going to Kissimmee or Downtown Disney at first.

I think the tolls on the Greeneway (FL-417) are a little more than the Beachline (528), but I'm not positive. Its too bad that either way, the tolls can add quite a bit of time to the trip. I'm hoping that someday the Florida roads and EZ Pass can work things out and get on the same system, but we'll have to wait. I understand that besides multiple agencies, the technology of the transponders is not compatible.

Last Friday we took the South exit to AKL - two tolls of $1.25 each and one fifty cent toll. Yesterday on the way back to the airport, we ended up on I4 to 528. Two tolls to the airport - $1.00 and $.75 . There was hardly any traffic yesterday which was nice.

Retracing my steps back to the airport I get off 528 one stop and 2 miles shy of the airport, that is, at exit #9 Tradeport. Left and cross under, get into middle lane, required right onto McCoy. Next light is Semoran Blvd. and airport entrance.

Eliminates one of the two tolls.
