We have 2 boys 7 and 3 1/2 but my 7 yr old is not really adventurous when it comes to rides and and my 3 1/2 yr old wouldn't be tall enough, so we're looking to see which waterpark has the better kids' area. Also, we're thinking of going on a Monday around 1pm, would it be be to crowded, it'd be the middle of October. Thanks!

My DS's have always been partial to TL. They have always seemed to have better time there than at Blizzard Beach.

The park will be crowded but it should not be unbearable.

Have a great time!! :)

Just went to both with daughter who is almost 7.

We went to both, then the third time she got to choose and chose TL.

At TL, the play area is smaller, with a few short slides, one kiddie tube ride, and a two lane longer slide that they are allowed to do headfirst - that's a big deal to that age. There is also a 3 station spray area with water cannons they can aim at each other. Near the kids area, the side bay off the wave pool has two slides that are good for kids and adults, about 20 feet long. Also popular was the family raft ride, which is gentle enough for small kids.

At BB, forget the family raft ride for kids as it's scary for adults. The kids have a kiddle area with several small slides and several longer slides, and a play/spray area. nearby is a pre-teen area with two floating iceberg walks (challenging but an adventurous 8 year old could do it)... and a few longer slides suitable for the more adventurous kids.

Of course each has a "lazy river" also.

there's a wonderful kids' area at Blizzard Beach--particularly for the 7 yr old there are miniature slides. it's a neat area. both my kids liked it better that TL.

If you ask my DS(14 goin2B 15) now, he will tell you these:

1) his favorite was BB when he was smaller (from 2 - 9 yrs old)
2) Being bigger and taller after 9 yrs old, he is more into TL (maybe it has more thrill rides than BB )

But if your children are still small, I would definitely do BB. BB has more shady area and the wave area w/ shipWreck (the blow-horn before the big wave might scare some youngsters and concerning parents )

Remember to bring baby powder(sand) and eye-drop with you. You will be glad you did. :thumbsup2

We went to both for the 1st time this past May. My kids were 3 1/2 and 7 y.o. They preferred TL....and so did me and dh. At BB it was harder to keep track of where they were and there's alot of white which makes it even more glaring to the eyes! Have fun!

My ds4 last year LOVED Typhoon Lagoon. He had so much fun we cancelled an AK day and went again. My DD9 liked it too, she loved the wave pool. We have been to a local water park, and I think my DS now 5 is going to be bored at TL, so we are going to try BB this year. I have 2 water park days scheduled, so for the second day, they will decide which one to go to.

BB definately. There really isn't anything at TL kiddie area for your 7 yr old. My dd's6 informed that TL's area was "for babies", and they aren't really very adventurous either. They might not let your 7 yr old use the kiddie things, a friend told me her very tall 5 yr old was not allowed to do the kiddie slides, the cm said he was to big.

BB has 2 area's: Tykes Peak for preschoolers, Ski Patrol for older kids. Your 3 1/2 can do either and the 7 yr old will be happy with Ski Patrol's slides and stuff. My dd's both loved the family raft ride, didn't find it scary at all. I found it very easy to keep track of all 4 kids at BB. I could sit at the side and watch them play in Ski Patrol. I had a harder time at TL.

My DD6 likes the kids area at BB better than TL. However, as far as the overall park goes, she prefers TL.

She also loves the family raft ride at BB-not too scary for her, or us. She did Runoff rapids for the first time in January. I thought for sure she would be scared, but she loved it-we went right back on it.

For personal information my DD is small for her age. She'll be 7 in Sept, she's about 43" and 43#. Nothing scares her (except for ToT, of course) She loves roller coasters and can't wait until she's tall enough to ride more. I can't wait until she's 48" and can ride Crush n Gusher-she'll love it!

Oh, and TL has Shark Reef which is very cool but some kids don't like using mask and snorkel. We are going to practice in the tub before we go in Sept. so my DD will be able to go this time. And of course, she loves the surf pool-just make sure you hold onto them tight!

I agree that the 7 year old will not be able to use the Tykes Peak area at BB. I can't remember if there was an age limit or height restriction but when we were there in June DD6 wanted to go over there because she remembered it from the first time. When we got over there I realized she didn't meet the requirements and then when she saw it she decided it was too "babyish" for her anyway and she is the biggest chicken when it comes to rides that there is.

Both DD6 and DS8 loved the Ski Patrol area and I didn't find it hard to keep track of them. I just stood on the bridge that runs through the middle and was able to watch. I liked that the area was restricted to adults with children only (signs said something like must be accompanied by a child).

The height restriction in Tikes is under 48''. However that is only for the inner tube slide and the single body slide. There is a set of 3 slides that anyone can ride and anyone can play in the water feature/spray area which is the center feature of Tikes.

However I also agree that your 7 year old will probably have more fun in Ski Patrol.

TL has a large kiddies area but BB is our favourite.....the family raft ride in particular.

BB hands down ! From the Theme, the Ski Patrol area for the under ten set, to the family raft ride, the calmer wave pool for the less adventurous, the smaller kiddie area is great - so easy to watch your kids with it well laid out and set apart (we found TL kiddie area to be chaos).
