Which water park?

I'd not planned for a water park, but I think I'm going to try to squeeze one in. If you could only go to one, which one would it be? It'll be my son, who will be almost 15, plus my daughter who will be almost 4. So, which is better for families with younger children. I don't think my son is bothered about big slides, so I'm thinking more family stuff that we can all do together.

Toddler Areas - I preferred BB. TL toddler area has too much for older kids so they invade the area and run out the toddlers.

At BB, your 4 year old will have the area with younger kids and you won't be so nervous (in my opinion).

Your older son will have fun at any of them.

That's our first choice too.

We find the main pool at TL too rough especially with a little one plus we fine more to do together at BB :goodvibes

i agree - the main pool at TL is much rougher than it used to be.
They've 'turned it up' so the waves are so strong they knock me off my feet even when i stay at the very edge.

and the kiddie area at BB is lovely - lots of nice stuff for little ones.

It sounds like Blizzard Beach might be better for us. Thanks, it's been penciled in!

Depends how good your 4 year old is in water. BB if less able in water, TL if able to cope with more. This is in relation to the little kids areas. My DD was bored by them both by age 5 though.

We don't have tickets for Aquatica, so it has to really be one of the Disney ones.

no problem.
in my opinion, the disney parks are the best in the world.
of course, i haven't been to every water park on earth, but the disney water parks are really nice.

And i say that as a former life guard and mother of water babies.

We LOVE the water.

BB has lots of nice water things for both kids.
it's true that TL has lots of sand, so if your child likes to play in sand, i don't recall how much there is at BB.
But BB has wonderful water things for all ages.
and since they built BB after TL, they improved a few of the attractions - like the lazy river.
both BB and TL have lazy rivers, but the one at BB is slightly better and higly recommended.

for your son - he should go to the back of the park where all the tube slides are. there are 3 together that are awesome! and then another one that's by itself called the downhill double dipper that's great.

oh and the tobaggans are great.
oh and the stormslides

and then of course, the suicide slide in the middle. I don't do that one, but my kids do. (wear a strong swim suit on that one!!)

and for the little one there is a separate area.

BB really is an excellent water park.

The trick is to get to the slides at rope drop before the lines get LONG.

we typically get there for rope drop (they usually let you in at about 10 or 15 minutes before rope drop so you can get a locker etc).

at rope drop we RACE to the back of the park - go on downhill double dipper 3 or 4 times.
Then continue to the 3 long tube slides - runoff rapids
Do those about 4 or 5 times.
Then head to the tobaggan racers - do that about 5 times.
Then the one next to it - snow stormers. Do that once or twice.
Then head over to the family tube slide, teamboat springs (big tube for the whole family) and do that one twice.

Then the kids do the suicidal one - summit plummit. and the one next to it, slush gusher. And we sit in the stands at the bottom watching for them.

Then we go on the lazy river for about 3 times around.

by then it's 11 or 12. We eat ice cream or a snow cone and head back to the hotel.

we are all about the water - no sunning.

we skip a bunch of the slides and we don't do the wave pool. we only do our favorites (and we don't do the kiddie area (tike's peak) or children's area (ski patrol training camp) either of course. no little ones)

Thanks!

It's mainly the family stuff we'd want to do. I'm not sure how brave my son would be on the slides, but he'd probably give them a go. With regards to sand, my daughter doesn't like it at all. She won't walk on it or even touch it. We're staying at the Beach Club, so that's going to be a problem. :lmao:

even non-swimmers can do the big slides - so no problem if your son isn't a strong swimmer.

here's a good description of BB - Corey used to work there as a lifeguard (i asked him about my son in law before we went - about whether he'd be able to do the slides)
My son in law was with us last time and he can't swim at all. He was fine on all of the slides and even in the lazy river (it's shallow enough to walk in).
he didn't go into the big wave pool though - that would be too much for him.
But all the slides were fine for him.

I was really looking forward to the Beach at the Beach Club when we stayed there. I have to say I went on it once and it was crawling with ants. Riddled. I am ant phobic. A great disappointment. I never went near it a second time so can't say it's always like that but it was gross.

i haven't been to Aquatica, but i've heard it's good.

Maybe one day. :)

Hard to justify paying for Aquatica when you have two great water parks already paid for :) ...but I do hope to go one day, maybe next trip!

OP, whichever water park you decide to visit I'm sure you will enjoy yourselves, BB gets my vote ahead of TL :)

My son is a good swimmer, it's just I'm not sure how brave he would be on the bigger slides. Those almost vertical drop ones scare me!

I don't think we'd go on the actual beach there to be honest because my daughter would hate it. I'm assuming you're meaning that and not the sand around the pool?

Typhoon Lagoon is our favourite, there seem to be far too many steps at Blizzard Beach.

Having said that, depending on the date you are going (which I suspect from your countdown is October) you may find you only have one to choose from as they normally close one of the water parks for rehab around October time.

ETA: Just checked and looks as though they are both open until 26th October, after which TL is closed. I'm glad I checked as this means we will have to go before TL closes as my hubby would never forgive me if he missed out.

We went to TL and BB.

My kids (4 & 2) much preferred TL. They loved the lazy river and the family fall. I liked the bit where you swim with sharks.

BB was ok but I found it more adult orientated (big slides).

We are planning to hit both during our trip. We are doing TL on our first full day at WDW as we land on the Columbus Day Weekend so avoiding the "big" parks.

Then we are doing BB 6 days after that. Although some of the slides look insane!!

Whats the best situation/ thing to do for towels and lockers?
