Isn't that the Voldemort wand only a little darker? I'm sure Voldemort's wand has a skull at the end..?!

No, I think it's that only two wands were made from the tail feathers of that particular Phoenix - Fawkes, belonging to Dumbledore.

I'm sure the phoenix tail feathers in the other wands were provided by a different phoenix.

Yup. The phoenix tailfeather in my wand is from Hawkes; Fawke's cousin twice removed.

I'm proud of myself, because I didn't even have to ask my daughter! She's the real fan - she sat through the whole first movie complaining that it didn't match the books. We told her she'd never see the second movie, if she didn't pipe down. She was nice and quiet after that!

You know, a couple years back, the kid confessed to me that she'd accidentally memorized a whole bunch of the Philosopher's Stone, just by rereading it so often. Now, THAT's scary. I still refused to let her recite any of it to me, though.

My nephew bought my neice a Hermoine wand, it looked like plastic to me. Every wand cost $30.84 with tax. She didn't get chosen in the show.

So are all the exclusive wands "dusty" or is it just the ones that choose you in the wand experience? In other words, if you just walk in and purchase one, is that what it will look like as well? If so, I think its brilliant....can't wait to see more.

The noble collection wands are pretty hefty, so I imagine they must be resin. Didn't get to weild one of the "birthdate" wands, but I imagine they are made the same way. I wasn't real hot on the wands, but I must say that some of them, like the Sirius Black one, are quite cool, feel nice in the hand, and might, possibly, conceivably allow the "Gettmeus a beericus" spell to work on my wife! No luck so far, so either my midichlorian count is too low or I need a wand!!

They're resin (I know cuz I dropped my husband's and it broke).

It's cool that you can order them online but I like the one we actually got from the wandkeeper in the shop (which is glued now) because the box actually has dust on it.

My dd purchased this in Aug. She said it's an all purpose dark arts wand. ETA: judging from cagenot's pictures it's an elder wand.
The box it came in is very sturdy. No worries when it's packed in the luggage.

I would like to contribute to this post with some pics I took of the cart that sells wands right outside Filch´s. All wands were not in there but most of them are.

By the way I got my birthday wand, Elder and also Dumbledore´s (wanted Voldemorts also but had to decide between both, had to go with the Elder Wand ).
