Standard, Woods, or pool area? There in NOT that big of diffrencr in the price for any of them. Which veiw would be better for a 6 and 9 y/o? Which would be the nicest? And Why?

I had a Woods view on my last trip and would get it again in a heartbeat. If you click on the link below to my pics from my 2003 trip, there are pictures of the room and the view I had. I had a view of the castle, as well as the monorail, the lagoons and the upper floors of the Contemporary. This room is also located near the elevator (although I found it pretty quiet) and was a quick walk to most everything.

I thought pool/Courtyard was $50 a night more than Woods view-that's a couple of meals for DH &I!:D

Thanks for the pictures we have a woods view for sept 11th to the 18th. KELLY

Terk-1: Your picture of the castle and the monorail from your room should be on a calendar or something. What a beautiful view. We have a woods view booked and I was hoping maybe we could be upgraded to courtyard, but I sure wouldn't mind that view.

We had booked a woods view room in July and had 2 free upgrades to an inner courtyard view. While we didn't have a view of MK or the fireworks, we did have a great view of the stream, pool, and lake. Wonderful quiet balcony even with the pool.

This room was also one of the "bear's head" and is visible from the post cards.

Save money and go with the Woods View, especially if you can get MK castle/fireworks/Monorail view.

We stayed at WL the last week in July, and I booked very specific room request based on information I had gotten off of threads on this board. We ended up in room 5012, which was perfect for us – 1 queen & 2 bunks, MK view, and close to the stairs. We watched Wishes from our room on the night we wanted to get to bed early. During the day we had a nice view of the wildlife in the Otter Pond. We didn’t see any Otters, but lots of turtles, and one lazy 4ft. alligator. We could also catch glimpses of boats going by on Bay Lake, since we were way down on the end.

If you are dependent on the elevators, you’ll want a higher numbered room on that hallway. We were all the way down on the end, one room removed from the stairs. It was great for us, but a long walk from the elevators. It was nice to go right down the stairs and just be a few steps from the boat launch in the morning. It was also handy for accessing the pool.

The courtyard view would be nice if you couldn’t get a castle view. The way I look at it, there are lots of pools, but the nighttime view of the multicolor-lighted Cindy’s Castle, is much rarer indeed.

Terk-1’s balcony picture is quite impressive. It looks like they had a bigger gap between the trees than we did so the view is a little better. I would have to guess that the picture in question was taken using a zoom lens. It doesn’t look that close in real life. What magnification were you using?

ssatterly: my son found the castle view magical. It really helped to boost his excitement & anticipation (like he needed any more excitement) The bunk beds may work well for your 6 & 9 year olds. Nothing like having your own bed + you have more floor space.

Great question, we might stay there this December too.

KayakDaddy,
What were your specific requests? Room 5012 sounds perfect for us. We have asked for bunk beds and have woods view booked. We would love being down towards the end of the hall and having MK view. Any specific suggestions what to ask for on check-in? Thanks!

There were a couple of threads going a few months back that really helped me make my decision. One had people posting pictures taken off of their balconies, another had people posting their room #'s along with specific likes and dislikes.

I already had made my reservation, but I called back and updated my room request. I said I wanted Woods view (which I already had booked), north wing, even numbered room, with a Magic Kingdom/Castle/Fireworks view. I also requested bunk beds and non-smoking on the 5th or 6th floor. I think the 6th floor is all smoking, but I could have lived with it to get the room I wanted. In hindsight, the 6th floor would have had a better MK view, but I don't think you would be able to see the ground all that well. The 6th floor balconies are the ones nested in the roof.

I called the Wilderness Lodge directly in the morning 5 days before check in. That is when the hotels get our ressies. I verified that they had my room requests and even helped them out by supplying specific room numbers that I had read that met the criteria (like they needed my help;) )

We were going to Blizzard Beach on the day of our check in, so we stopped by the WL at about 8 AM to register. Bell service took our bags, and we were given keys but not told our room #. When we returned from BB for a rest at 1:30, we called a number they had given us from one of the lobby phones. A CM gave us our room # and we walked right up and used our keys. I was excited to actually get the room that was #1 on my list! It was cool to walk into our room and see that it was exactly what I had imagined. (let me re-emphasis that the castle is not as close as what the balcony shot from room 5032 makes it seem - just so you will not be disappointed.) It only took an extra few minutes of prep time to secure the room we wanted, and it paid dividends all week long.

Hey, if you get that room, be on the lookout for the safe key that my son lost. I turned that room inside out looking for it. I even walked around in the grass under our balcony and couldn't find it. He was playing with it earlier in the trip and I didn't pay him any attention. I told the Mousekeeper and she said that security would come open it. I didn't bother sticking around, because I didn't think there was anything in there.

Thanks for the compliment regarding the picture. It was a great room and I could not have asked for a better view. From the balcony, you could see quite a bit, but I found it very quiet, even during the day. There was a little pond down below that had a couple of ducks. To lie in bed and watch the castle change color is just breathtaking!!

This is my favorite deluxe resort!!

LOL KayakDaddy,

It's truly a "Small World" - our family stayed in room 5012 in December 1997!

zipDdoodah,

That is a wonderful room. I have fantastic memories of sitting on that balcony watching the MVMCP fireworks over the MK - and all around 7 Seas Lagoon - while sipping hot chocolate, Aahhh.

If you want a specific room - do exactly what KayakDaddy said. Give the resort a call 4-5 days before you check-in and ask directly for what you want.

My choice for room view would definitely be Woods View (5012 :-).

Have Fun!
