Hello Hello :)

Looking for a bit of help on the Value part of our room block. We've never stayed at one before, and originally were not going to offer it on our room block since we aren't familiar with them, but now I'm thinking we should.

I know Pop seems to be the fave--but the theming seems a bit much for our group of friends, but Movies is getting re-furbed right now and the new rooms look nice, and Sports almost seems a little more grown up :confused3 I think I'm mainly between Sports and Movies.

The guests that would possibly use the cheaper rooms are in their 20s and 30s, no kids. What did you use, what are you going to use, or what would you use if you were having a DFTW?

My main goal is to keep people on property for convenience purposes :)

Thanks a bunch!!

((Our other resorts are Boardwalk and Coronado Springs))

We picked All Star Music for our room block value resort for two reasons. One, it was the cheapest value resort option for us during peak season (I really should have checked to see if it was peak season before we got so attached to a date :sad2:) and reason number 2 is that the All Star Music resort has the family suites (and even though you don't get the room block discount you still get 10%) so we figured larger families or people who wanted to share could book there. However, in my personal opinion I prefer to stay at Pop and the main reason being that all of the All Star resorts share a bus and it gets REALLY crowded. But that's just my 2 cents!

HTH :goodvibes

We chose Movie for ours! I think will all the movie decor the kids invited will be much more into it and I love the atmosphere.

I'd go with pop because of the bus sharing @ the all stars. Will the new animation value be open by then? That is supposed to be pretty cool.

We're choosing Pop. I think the All Star resorts share buses (or have multiple bus stops within the resort...I can't remember which). Pop has one bus stop and feels pretty close to everything.

I wonder if Art of Animation will be an option? It's already open for booking next summer.

Hah! We must have been typing at the same time because our thought process is identical :lmao:

The thing about the theming at the Values is that it's identical at all four resorts—they ALL have oversized props scattered about, just in different themes. So I wouldn't let that keep you from offering Pop Century. The reason we prefer it is that it has its own bus system (at the All-Stars you might have to wait for the bus to go to the other 2 resorts first, or it might arrive packed to the gills already), the buildings and facilities are slightly newer (and therefore perfected over those at the All-Stars), and it is super-close to the action—especially Epcot/DHS. The All-Stars just feel like they're out in the boonies to me. Also, the rooms at Pop were recently redone to be less over-the-top. I'll post pix below.

However, if I were planning a wedding for late next year, I'd be trying to get the Art of Animation resort in my room block cuz it will be the newest and best-themed of all Values. :thumbsup2

Grr wish I knew about the bus system thing before I picked the music :(

I wish the animation one would be open, but it's not

I asked my consultant in May about Art of Animation and she said she didn't think that they would be offering that on the room block because they are now just offering Pop full time. That they couldn't offer it fully because Pop didn't have their own booking dept or something along those lines.
I hope we can all push for Art of Animation to be on the block for all of us next summer and later. :goodvibes

Hi Ladies! I just wanted to let you guys know now that the Art of Animation will not be allowing room blocks anytime soon :( I spoke with my consultant last week about it-we're getting married Nov. 10, 2012 and I asked if we could use it but she said that they probably won't be allowing group blocks there for at least a year or two. However, she did say that guests could still stay there on their own, they just wouldn't get a discount. I think we are going to do that, because the nights will still count towards the minimum and we can still include the resort for our transportation. HTH!:)

were doin pop cause its my favorite of the values. I just love the themeing of it, plus I feel like the food court has better food and more choices. I also like that there is just one bus stop for the resort and you dont have to waste time going between 3 resorts..like the all stars. Also our other resorts are Boardwalk and caribbean Beach so we wanted our guests to be as close together as possible for their convienance.

I emailed my consultant about art of animation and got the same response- 1 to 2 years after opening until they'll make it available for blocks.

I will say before I post the rest that I will not be much help, but this is what we are doing.

We are not offering a value resort at all. We have to provide transportation since our events are in Epcot and we have more (cheaper!) options if we just have 2 resorts. Knowing our guests, I don't even see many of them staying at the moderate choice. We will see.

I did get my room block stuff yesterday so I am just starting to look at it and go through it. :scared1:

This is exacly why we chose Pop Century. I absolutely love the All Star Movies resort but the bus sharing is ridiculous! Since it is the last stop of the All Star Resorts there is never an empty space on the bus not even standing room. I say if you want your guests to enjoy the transportation provided for them definitely go with Pop Century.

Wait, how did you guys get Pop? It wasn't even offered to me! We haven't sent in our room block yet but we chose Music because of the bigger rooms, but now I'm wondering why I didn't have Pop as an option!

It wasn't on my list of resort choices either. I specifically asked my wedding planner if we could use Pop Century. Just tell her thats what you want as your Value Resort.

ya it wasnt on the actual list, I just herad that it was available so I asked and got it as my value choice
