At the 7 month window which type of room is hardest to get? (studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, grand villa?) I know I saw a thread that listed how many units were at each resort in the past but of course I can't locate it now. We are hoping to get a 2 bedroom the week after Labor Day next September for 2 nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and 3 nights at the Beach Club Villas. I was just curious what rooms seemed to be most popular. Thanks in advance.

My guess?

1. AKV Concierge room any villa
2. BWV GV
3. BWV BW view
3. BWV Standard view
3. BCV dedicated two bedroom with two queen beds in the second bedroom
4. GCV any room when it opens in 2009
5. OKW GV

Really? Are the BWV GVs really that popular? They are not even on my radar because they are soooo expensive. I have the others on your top-4 covered with a reservation for (1) and (3) in place for December :woohoo:.

BTW, I think I would swap the Standard View and BW View on your list. Too many people want to stay at BWV for the same price as OKW/SSR.

First, it depends on the time of the year. As mentioned, BW area is tough during F&W and VWL are most difficult around Chirstmas. (Actually I think the hardest of all is HH GV during summer, JMO)

In terms of just units in general irregardless of location or season, I have heard GV's go first (limited supply), studios are the second most popular, followed by 2-BR and then 1-BR.

For the dates you are looking at I don't think you will have much trouble getting exactly what you want. You are traveling during the short lull of in between "end of summer" and before "F&W starts".

BW standard view
AKV value view - don't know for sure time will tell

to answer your first question
GV
studio
2-bedroom
1-bedroom

sometimes the first and second change places.

We were at the Boardwalk in September and ask to see a grand villa. We are going in September of 2008 with 4 adults and 5 children ages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 and wanted to see the floor plan. We are debating whether to get a GV or two 2-bedrooms. They had a GV open for us to view. One look and our minds were made up, the grand villa is the way to go.

I asked the cast member that showed us the room if it was unusual for the grand villas to be empty. She said that they are usually unoccupied citing the points.

I also think BCV rooms are in high demand. The location is the same as BWV with regards to park location but storm along bay is a real draw. If they had GV there I would be going back there in 2008

Unless things ahave changed a lot... my experience says that is the case. Before we joined DVC, we had a 2 BR reserved at the Board Walk through CRO. We got free upgrade to the Grand Villa. It was amazing.

I think the OKW Grand Villa is the Hardest to Book and HHI from April-September

BWV Standard View Rooms definitely go before any other Cat.

BCV and VWL are more difficult than any other WDW Resort for Studios ,1BR and 2BR because of their limited size , BCV had Stormalong Bay and easiest to walk to any park (Epcot), and VWL for its MK Location proximity.

For this upcoming Christmas, I've booked a BW GV for our families Christmas vacation. I called MS at the 11 month window and to my surprise, one was available. I booked using the day by day method without any problem getting the entire stay. Yep it was expensive, but we feel worth it.

that is the reason why both BCV and VWL don't have GV - no demand. but I was under the impression that demand was way up - since SSR and AKV both have them.

they are very expensive to keep and not use. Think of the space used as a 2-bedroom - at least 2 (2-bedroom). or one 2-bedroom and 2 studios.

they are definitely in the plans for CRV - at the top!!! okay i have never stayed in a GV before - no really need. My family is better off in separate units.... but believe me those will tempt me.

so I was under the impression that demand for GV was way, way up.

of course, Sept is probably the least demand for any DVC units in the first place.

Dec might be a different story?
