Short version...Which trip would you take?

Long version(Pop Daddy, youve been warned)...Weve wanted to do a 7 day Disney Cruise in the summer of 2005 for a while now. I wasnt thrilled about the CA cruises so we booked one for Oct 05. There was only 1 week we could go in the fall due to the kids school schedule. That cruise was cancelled 4 months ago and DCL still hasnt contacted me about it. We have tried and they keep saying wait to be contacted.

When I first heard about the cancellation, I called DCL and they denied it to me. Not trusting the answer I got, I booked one of the CA cruises for Aug as a back up... for 2500.00 more than I was paying for the Oct cruise. I still have that booked. For a little less money than that 7 day CA cruise we could do a 7 night cruise on Royal Caribbean out of FL in a comprable room(a little bigger I think and still has a verandah), plus 3 nights at the Contemporary Tower(DS has requested this in the past), the Hoop Dee Do, Disney Quest, a water park, and get 4 day hopper passes for us all(we would only do 1 park day then, and save the other days for another time). The RC ship has a skating rink, casino, mini golf, wall climbing and is under a year old. The price isnt even counting the savings in only having to fly to FL as opposed to CA.

So, what do you think? Is Disney Cruise Line worth the extra money and should I look at going to CA as a new adventure, or am I crazy for considering it when I could get so much more for less money. Im so torn!

Since I know absolutely nothing about any cruise line (but am willing to learn!!) I will go by what my sil the travel agent tells me. She says that unless you have to see characters, why spend the money for DCL. She spends 1/2 the money and uses other lines and does a lot more. Of course, she figures that you are never in your room either, so why get a cabin with a window!!!
Hopefully, I will get the opportunity to make an informed comment in the next few years. Hoping to cruise soon.

Me? I would stay at the CR, and do all that other stuff and cruise with a different line.

From what you said, it sounds like you've booked RCI's Mariner, right? She supposed to be a fabulous ship. If you can do that and Disney for a few days, I would totally do that!!!!!

I havent booked it yet, but yes, I am looking into the Mariner.

LOL! I see someone else agrees with how Ive been feeling. :teeth:

It'd be a tough decision, but considering everything you listed that you could do at WDW (CR tower!) with the RCI cruise, I'd go for that. Can you do the RCI cruise/WDW trip next year, and then a DCL cruise a year or so later, or is this a once-in-a-lifetime cruise?? If it's once in a lifetime, I might go for the DCL cruise. VERY hard decision!! I'm curious as to what you will decide! :)

Thanks for the replies so far everyone.

Seaspray, I happened to notice in one of your other posts you had RC in your signature and I knew you just got back from a Disney cruise that you really enjoyed so I was hoping you would see this post. :D To answer your question, we would probably do a Disney cruise in a few years. Then I again, I has said that a few years ago, and its just not working out(that will teach me to plan ahead, LOL).
