We are booked on a cruise for next April which falls during school vacation (of course). Which web site has anyone found best to deal with or did you choose based on price alone? I have two companion tickets that I can use BUT I can't use them until November. I am afraid if I wait until then, the price of a single ticket will be sky high and there are three of us traveling. So, there are two questions; Should I buy our tix now. They are running about $100 more per tix than the low fares available for off peak, or should I take my chances and wait til Nov?

I tend to use Orbitz as my reference, Dawn. And prices are so all over the board. I booked tickets for a Vegas trip (wish it was WDW  ) for later in the year a few weeks ago for $215 a ticket. Same ticket now is $380. Maybe it will go down again, not sure, but it sure did go up. Hard call, Dawn, but I do reference Orbitz. Good luck.

I haven't dealt with many of these sites but I do use Expedia regularly. I think that they're efficient and I like the way they contact me when flight times or numbers change. I'm never caught offguard when I use them. I've also used Travelocity but I think that they seem to be more expensive.

I use ORBITZ to get a handle on available flights but then book them directly through the airline's website.

I'd book NOW. I just had to pay $400 from Boston-Orlando for next February, during school vacation. The less expensive seats were looooooooooooong gone:D. If the fares that you book come down before April, you can always ask for travel vouchers.

I also use orbitz or expedia as a reference and then go to the airlines website, alot of times it is cheaper there. Also flights are cheaper at the end of the week and Saturday and then tend to go up. I think it is a crap shoot when to book. I just keep looking, although I don't have time to do it every day and then I get a good idea what a good rate looks like. It seems like I always book at least a month or two out.

I just booked a flight today to Vegas in October thru Orbitz. I've never used an online site before... so I ran around to EVERY board I visit asking which to use. :) I got good feedback for Orbitz.

So far so good! :teeth: The price was great, but I don't think that's Orbitz's doing... though I didn't have to pay the 10% service charge my company's travel agent wanted to charge! :)

We have always used Travelocity.com for our plane tickets. Never had a problem with them.

Thanks everyone, I have heard that Wednesdays @ 12:01 a.m. , all the sale priced tickets go back into the system. I am going to try this coming week and hope that my hesitation hasn't "been a problem". I will also look tomorrow again.

Initially I was going to check the rates mid week but I decided to call Delta Airlines and I asked if the prices were "up" because there weren't any good rates yet or if the seats were selling. The TA checked the flights that I needed and lo and behold, the plane is selling. School vacation in Ct. and everyone wants to leave I guess. Best fair I could get, including calling the airlines, checking each airline web site, etc was Expedia. I am booked on AA for $100 less per ticket than I could have gotton from their own web site. Now on to the next step, which will be another topic. Thanks, Dawn
