We have been to WDW several times but always with our young children. We booked a very last minute trip for a very quick weekend Friday - Monday in late July for just the 2 of us to go do some of those things we haven't been able to do with young kids in tow. DH has not ridden FoP so we will be spending some time in line there. Some of the other things we are considering that we have not done - Jellyrolls, YeeHa Bob, Keys to the Kingdom, Marceline to MK, HoopDeDoo, Spirit of Aloha. We have never done a dessert party or fireworks cruise either. I think we would love Keys to the Kingdom but worry it may be too long for such a short trip. WDYT? What is your favorite special event/entertainment?

HoopDeDoo is corny, but fun. We really enjoyed Keys to the Kingdom -- definitely more fun than waiting in line for FoP.

When we go next January I'd like to do a fireworks cruise but we'll have three grand kids with us and not sure how the baby (who will be 16 mos at the time) will do.

I think KTTK will work well for your trip. You get to ride several MK rides, plus learn a lot about the parks, plus see utilidors, plus lunch is included-- so it's a good use of time considering how much you do.

I'd save HDDR for a trip with the kids. It's truly family fun. Same with dessert party of fireworks cruise. If it was me, dining choices would be for things not as kid-friendly like California Grill-- late dinner, then watch HEA from the roof of the Contemporary (well, it was awesome for Wishes, haven't heard much yet about the view for HEA). SoA is also a good adult choice.

DH and I did KTTK on our first kid-free trip which was 4 nights: we arrived late Thursday night and left early afternoon Monday so we only had 3 park days plus a couple quick hours Monday morning. We didn't feel like it shortened our park time too much and we loved the tour! I say do it, it's nice to try things you can't do with the kids :)

We did KTTK on an adults-only trip and really enjoyed it. Other times when we've been there without the kids, we've done things like ride RNRC 3 times in one afternoon, just because we could! And we actually got to sit together, which was a rarity when our kids were younger. One thing we've never done when we've been there without kids is to take it easy - we will go full steam, open to close, just because we can. :) Not exactly relaxing, but lots of fun!

My vote is for Hoop Dee Doo.

I agree with the more adult oriented restaurants. There are some really nice ones that can be extremely relaxing without kiddos in tow! Have a great trip!

DH & I had a blast getting to Epcot first thing in the morning and slowly walking our way around (taking lots of pictures) to France for breakfast while everyone else ran off to Soarin' and FEA. Leisurely breakfast, wandered around World Showcase, lunch at Chefs de France (notice a theme? ;) and enjoyed the shows & live performers.

KTTK would be my first choice for sure! We tried to watch Yeehaw Bob (we were staying at POR) but it was the first of the month long torrential rains that have been going on and the whole building was packed. Next time!

I'd agree with the KTTK since you have to be 16 in order to take the tour. We've been waiting for DD to turn 16, for what seems like forever, and we're finally doing it in August given her 16th birthday is in July. Can't wait!

If you've got additional resources I would also say the dessert party at MK to watch the Happily Ever After fireworks/castle projection show. Time is money and I think it would be worth the money in not having to squish in with thousands of the masses to get a spot on Main Street.

Enjoy!

We are doing KTTK and Savor the Savannah. I'm hoping to book RoL FP the same night as SoS. I have heard great things about the Epcot tours, too.

KTTK is great and is about 5 hours long. Mareceline To MK is also awesome (especially if you are an HM fan) and is 3 hours & change (no lunch.)

I agree with Ron here. Marceline is a great tour. Not too long, not too short. Well priced. Lots of great information. As said, HM part is very cool.

If you do go on a tour, don't forget the discounts...AP, DVC, Disney Visa, all 15%.

On my solo trip I am doing KTTK, Wild Africa Trek, and Epcot Undiscovered. Very excited about all of them!

I would not do anything you can do (or enjoy) with kids. I would save the dinner shows for times when the kids are there. My kids had fun at Hoop Dee Doo, and I'll bet they would like Spirit of Aloha, also.

Exploring Epcot, eating at the signatures, and any tour where there is a minimum age requirement would be great. I think Jellyrolls would be really fun, but do you have anything like that near your home? I am not planning on doing Jellyrolls because it seems like something I can find at home or when we go to the beach. I'll bet it would be fun with your husband, though. It would be easy to head to Epcot for the evening and explore and have a nice dinner then head to Jellyrolls when Epcot closes.

Keys to the Kingdom (which I haven't done by the way) would be my vote. I've always wanted to do it. I thought I'd do it when DS was old enough (have done a few one on one mini trip down to Orlando with him), but lol -- he's 21 now and always has too many things he wants to do at the Magic Kingdom, so doesn't want to waste ride time with a tour. He also thinks it might ruin some Disney Magic for him, so is not really interested. And DH who wouldn't mind doing it doesn't love Orlando, so it kind of a waste for him to go down.

Still planning to fit it in sometime, but haven't figured out when and what that would look like yet.

AtlantaDisneyDreamer, Your tours sound so cool. The Wild Africa Trek looks amazing.
