Need some help/opinions. My husband just found out he will be going to a conference in November. The conference is off property, but we decided this is a perfect excuse for a getaway for us. The plan is for me to come down on Saturday Nov. 11th and we will stay until Wednesday the 14th. We know it will be a short trip but can't pass up the opportunity for us to do Disney without the kids(don't feel sorry for the kids they get their trip in June). Anyway, I will stay on property and he will join me on Sunday. Here is our dilemma where to stay. One option is to do a very budget trip and just stay at POP. We have stayed there before and I know my way around, but we just feel okay about the resort. Option 2 is to stay at POR. We are staying here with the kids in June and we really enjoy the resort, plus I know my way around. The 3rd option is to go with a deluxe. I have always wanted to stay there but I can never justify the cost. Since this is a short trip, we thought maybe this is the time to try it. But on the other hand, we plan on not being at the resort and I will not know my way around. So what is everyone's thoughts? Thanks for your help.

POR is just a boat ride to Disney Springs....

I agree that it depends on how much time you will be spending at the resort. Are you AP holders? I think if it were just me and my husband, I might spend most of my time at the deluxe resort enjoying the amenities, walking trails, and restaurants.

I recommend AKL for such a trip. If you stay standard, it won't cost much more than POR, and you will have a wonderful world of restaurants and amenities right at the resort. If you save money and don't buy park tickets, you could have some fabulous date nights.

Watch the fireworks from California Grill. You won't even miss the parks.

I'd go deluxe. But then again, we always stay deluxe and really take advantage of the resort amenities. We try to balance our park and resort time evenly. For an adult trip, I'd focus on a resort with good restaurants and lounges plus easy park access...so monorail or Epcot resorts, essentially. I wouldn't worry about not already knowing your way around. We've found the resorts are all easy to navigate.

Go for the deluxe. It's a short trip, so it won't be that much more. Since it's just the two of you, why not have a romantic stay in the Epcot area? You can walk the Boardwalk and dine at some fine restaurants. Wherever you wind up, have a great trip!

CR is my go-to resort for short stays, can't beat the walkability to MK and a monorail stop away from transferring to Epcot.

If you're more of an Epcot person, I'd vote for something like BC or YC for walkability to Epcot.

With short stays I try to stay where I'll spend the least amount of time moving from one place to another - every minute/hour counts!

Enjoy your planning.

Another vote for deluxe. Since it's just the two of you and you are staying at POR in June with the kids, I'd stay deluxe and enjoy the resort. You might not know your way around, but that's half the fun (IMO) of trying something new :goodvibes.

If you don't plan on being at the resort, I would go with POR!
I agree. If you're not planning on being at the resort much, sorry but splurging for deluxe makes no sense at all. POR is gorgeous and the boat ride to Dis. Springs is awesome. :)

Check out WL... Depending on what fall discounts are, it will most likely be around the cost of POR, if you book standard view.

This past Feb mom and I were able to get a WL std view room for $215 a night, when POR was running $185 for a std room.

Edit: And pretty much all the construction should be done by November. So that should not be a concern.
