Which Tix ?

I have decided to switch my 6 night Oct trip from WDW to UOR. I've been several times, but the last time was about 5 years ago. I'm trying to decide which tickets to buy. We plan to do all 3 parks. I am planning to buy a Seasonal Pass for myself to get the AP hotel discount.

Which tix would be cheaper for the 3 kids (adult tix)? Should I go ahead and buy the 3 park buy 2/get 2 tix for them now? Or should I wait until we get there and use my AP to buy them discounted tix at the gate? If it makes a difference, I may or may not decide to upgrade them to APs while we are there. Any advice on saving money on tickets is greatly appreciated.

How many days do you plan for the parks ? If 4, then the Buy 2/Get 2 would seem the best. The AP discount for regular multi day tickets is going to be more as discount is only 10% and will pay more for 4 day 3 park tickets.

If you want to do 5 days, then almost to the point of buying Annual Passes for everyone, especially if may make another trip within the year (or 15 months for current promotion and must purchase by end of Sept).

3rd party sites sell tickets at discounts, like Undercover Tourist.... a lot of people buy the discounted tickets and upgrade them to annual passes at the parks, but would have to do the math to see how it would work for you...plus would not get the extra 3 months on AP's if decide to go that route.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't sure how much the AP ticket discount would be at the gate.

This may be the most clear and succinct answer to anyone who is pondering what type of ticket to buy nowadays. I have been looking for months, and this sums it up nicely. Great answer Greg!

Hey Greg! Can you explain how the extra 3 months don't work for the upgraded tickets? I was thinking of doing that and it hadn't occurred to me that upgraded tickets might not qualify! Would love some more info on that if you happen to have any. This will be our first trip so still trying to master all the details! We are planning to go Sept. 27 - Oct. 1, and then hope to go again in Fall 2021 with our extended family, so the annual pass seems to make sense, especially if we can get the 15 month extension! Thank you so much for this great explanation!

That special for the 15 month ap ends September 30
for new purchase of an AP or a renewal of your present AP

The OP was saying their trip was in Oct ...therefore they would have needed to purchase AP's before end of Sep. to get the extra 3 month promotion.

If your going before end of Sep. then you should be able to upgrade if they allow the extra 3 months for upgrades.

djmeredith, you can book an onsite room for the ap discount only if it is listed available for your dates and hotel.

It is not an automatic ap hotel discount.

Loews always allows a specific number of rooms qualify for ap room bookings.

Ticket question!
We’ll be at US Sept 16-20.:Scrambling to make arrangements, as we were supposed to go in late October. But our daughter’s fiancé is a pilot and his vacation got switched to September. We are making it work. Staying at HRH, longtime family tradition.
I think the best option is to get my hub a preferred annual pass for the discounts, because he is not interested in VB, and the other 3 of us are. We don’t need the AP rare for the hotel.
I think I understand that to use his discount for park tickets, it needs to be at the gate? Can the tickets also be bought at the hotel? And is the gate price the same as the current promo for 4 days for the price of 2?
Thanks!

HR should have an attraction desk where you can buy park tickets.
I have not stayed at HR in quite a few years as I made RP my home.
I know RP has an attraction desk In their lobby and sells tickets.
The present discounted ticket sale is a good deal
(2+2)
It expires end of September.
You can buy them online and pick up the tickets either at your hotel or at guest services outside the entrance to the parks.

Compare the present sale of ticket deal to buying them at the gate.

If you plan another trip in the next 15 months, your husband having the ap will be worth it.

Are 3 of you planning on going to VBay?

Yes, 3 of us to VB.
I don’t know if we will be back within 15 months, but I think the 10% discount for meals and purchases will exceed the annual pass upgrade. We have so many traditions that we “have” to do, that it is a bunch of TS.

It will be worth it for one in the group to have the ap.
Show that ap everywhere and the discounts will add up!

Check the list of eateries and shops that honor the ap discounts
Don’t laugh but I went to bubba gump for dinner and Hard Rock Cafe as ap discount was allowed there

I’m sure you looked online to see all the places the ap qualifies for discounts
