Which tickets get used first?

Hello all :)
Way back nearly 15 years ago, DH and I went to WDW and I bought 10 day non-expiring park hopper tickets (for something like $300 CAD each, what a steal). Anyway we only used 3 days, so I used them again in 2017 and this time we used 5 days. But now we are going again and have the free dining package so we have regular park hopper tickets. I obviously want to use the regular PH and not the 2 remaining days on my non-expiring tix. Is there any chance that the regular ones will get used first when I scan in, or do I need to a) go to guest services or b) call ahead to 'fix' this?

When you arrive, before entering the park (do not, scan any tickets or magic bands), stop at Guest Services (there is one before park admissions) and tell them you want to "prioritize" your tickets. Let them know your choice.

We usually stop at MK the night we first arrive at Disney. You can prioritize and no need to go in the park. That way,we waste no time on our first park day.

You may also want to stop at GS after you enter the park to verify it was done right and the correct ticket was used. We had the same issue a few years back - 2 left on a 10-day non-expiring park-hopper ticket - and stopped at GS before going in to prioritize our tickets. Found out months later after we got home but before our next trip the following year that the wrong ticket was used. Called Disney and was able to get the 2 days back in the form of 2 1-day tickets. We still have one of those left to use.
