Which ticket do you buy?

I'm trying to decide which ticket option makes the most sense for my family. We are going for 9 days in April then 6 in Aug and probably a week in April again ( but the same week, so the AP won't cover that trip.) We usually purchase AP's but maybe 10 day non exp. MYW tickets would be better? We are no longer park commandos and are beginning to go to the parks only every other day. A 10 day ticket would cover 3 vacations but is $100 more( times 6 :scared1: ) Which would you buy?

Even with not doing commando touring, you're there for about 21 or 22 days and only would have 10 days worth of admissions. Do you feel that you would really be able to stay away from the parks that much?

What about this alternative? You buy the AP's this year but not go to the parks for your first few days on this April trip and the last few days on next April's trip. That way you would get more days and spend less money.

With an AP, I never feel like I need to get my money's worth out of a day on a ticket. I like to be able to come and go in the parks even if only for a few hours on a couple of days during our stay.

I have never regretted buying the AP, only regretted NOT BUYING the AP.

I think the break-even point on buying an AP with a DVC discount is going to the parks 8 days...less than that if you take advantage of other discounts associated with owning an AP. With how much you will be there, it seems like an AP would be better. And it's definitely nice to be able to just go to the park for a few hours sometimes.
We will be alternating APs and using parts of 10 day no-expires based on our plans for a given year. With that, we can also get the water parks added to the 10-days but have some left over to use when we have APs without having to buy the premium AP.
I like Happy Birthday Cat's suggestion, too, if you really want to save!

If you're going to be on property and wish to park hop, the best deal going (especially with the dvc discount) is the AP :)

sorry but why is it $100 more?

when we were trying to figure it out we were told the AP was $330 with the $100 discount for DVCers and the 10 day base was only $230 - thats $100 less then the AP.

for us because we are not park hoppers and don't go to the water parks it's not worth getting an AP for our 12- 14 day trips (we just go to DTD or check out other resorts on our days off)

One little thing, AP's are good for one year plus a day, or 366 days in non-leap years, 367 in leap years.

If you purchased an AP on April 10th, 2007, you could use it that day, and the following year, you could still use it on April 10th, 2008. So if your April vacations are the same week, you would get that one extra day out of the AP.

sorry but why is it $100 more?
The OP said they would be non-expiring tickets. They would be splitting it up between two vacations. They're not staying for the whole 15/16 days in one stretch.

Also with an AP if you just want to go to a park to eat in the evening it is better than using a MYW day IMO and you would be able to do this. Is there a way to move the April trip even a few days next year?

We're just going w/base MYW tix that i bought @ discount from broker I've used several times. AP just didn't make sense due to our upcoming vacation plans for the next year. While it won't be as convenient to PH, especially to Epcot for dinner, I suppose we'll muddle thru.;)

You can get a 10 day tix for approx $220 S&H included...if you need discount link from mousesavers, feel free to pm me.

Thank you everyone. Yes the tickets would be non exp. park hoppers with the plus's so they're $ 100.00 more. I'm going to check my dates and see if the suggestion from HBC will work for us. Great idea !
