which thermometer do you use on your family?

I need to buy one of the ear type thermometers. Do you like yours? Recommendations please.

I have the Braun ear thermometer. Though at the moment it has mysteriously disappeared.

We do take temps in both ears--just to make sure the reading is close to accurate. Occasionally we will get a very obvious off reading.

I just had to buy a new Braun Thermoscan last week when my 15 y.o. got sick. Our old one circa 1996 or so bit the dust!

The first temp I take I always disregard.

Then I take it again in both ears and average it out because both ears are never the same!

There's always been controversy as to their accuracy, but if it's only off a few points, to me, it doesn't matter that much.

I use the Vick's under arm one - and have been very happy with it.
