Hi ,

Going to WDW in May. I want to book any of the shows or dining experiences now. I was wondering which shows or experiences that have to be pre-booked would you recommend. Kids are 8 and 6. and don't like anything too scary. Thanks.

Hi Grianan :)

Most of the shows, parades and evening fireworks are included in your admission tickets to WDW.

There are a few exceptions like Cirque de Soleil in Downtown Disney.
There are also a number of behind the scenes tours that you can book for WDW.

Tour details:

AS for 'dinner' shows within WDW, the nearest you come to them are the character meals, which you can book using the ADR system up to 180 before. These usually go down well with the kids :)

Here's some info. on the character dining options:

and some general dining information here, including menus:

Don't know much about the dinner shows outside of WDW of never really bothered with them.

So far as Disney "shows" are concerned, I guess the Festival of the Lion King would be top of my list. You and the kids will love it.:thumbsup2

Here are my favs park for park:-

Magic Kingdom

Wishes

MGM

Fantasmic
Beauty and the Beast

Animal Kingdom

Festival of the Lion King and Mickey's Jungle Jammin Parade

Epcot

Illuminations

Resorts

Electrical Water Parade

agree with Minniespal - the best shows are included anyway, don't miss Fantasmic :thumbsup2

We love
The festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom
Fatasmic at MGM
The Spectromagic parade at MK

We also loved the show which was on the stage in front of the castle in MK but I believe this has changed now.

My favorites:

Magic Kingdom:
--> Hall of Presidents
--> Carousel of Progress
--> Country Bears Jamboree
--> Spectromagic
--> Wishes

Epcot:
--> The American Adventure
--> Illuminations: Reflections of Earth

Disney-MGM Studios:
--> Fantasmic
(never been a huge fan of Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast shows)

Animal Kingdom:
-->Finding Nemo the Musical
--> Festival of the Lion King
(I've always thought the Pochohantas show was terrible…way too ‘preachy’)

3D shows are good too...

Thanks everyone. I couldn't get my head around all the information out there so that really helps.

ermmm,,,,,.... hasn't festival of the lion king closed to be replaced with the new Nemo show?

There are dinner shows that haven't been mentioned (where you pay for dinner)
Spirit of Aloha may be a bit boring for young children
Hoop de doo may be fun and can be booked at 180 days in advance.

In the parks wishes is fantastic at the MK, not at all scary
Fantasmic at MGM is very good, but some young ones may find it a bit scary, but they are likey to be OK with a bit of warning at 6 and 8.

It's the Tarzan Rocks show that was closed to make way for the new Nemo Show. Lion King is still going strong and is a great show :)

We love Festival of the Lion king but are all time favourtie has to be FANTASMIC - it is worth an hour + wait to get the best seats in the middle section.
We love it so much we have the sound track and I'm listening to it no while on boards! ha ha ha (sad I know) :rolleyes1

I also wondered about the disney restaurants with additional entertainment, for example Marakesh in epcot does belly danceing?? How do I find out what restaurants do stuff like this. .. and does anyone have any recommendations.

Also is it possible (or would you recommend it) to watch the wishes or illuminations fireworks from any of the restaurants.

We're going in may and starting to realise I could by late with ADR's. Panic. Any advice welcome.:confused3

Now you say it I rmeember that :) I must say O am please lion king is still going string, it is great

Another vote for Finding Nemo the Musical. A great show for younger children, extremely well presented, very colourful and amusing.

Also enjoyed Spirit of Aloha show (nice food too!).

Enjoyed the Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede - lots of fun and audience participtation, again good, plentiful food.

Hi,
To watch illuminations, book a table at the Rose and Crown in the UK section of the World Showcase. The food isn't fab but the atmosphere and view are fantastic. Ask for a table outside and try to time it right.

Booked the hoop de doo, fantasmic and cinderellas table ( ok I know it didnt get great comments from some reviews, but couldn't pass it). I got the days I wanted and a choice of times. No panic afterall. I'm going to play the rest 'by ear' when I get there. Thanks every one for the great advice and comments. :cheer2:
