Hi everyone,

For the first time next year we are going to the world with our DS who will be 2 - its sooooooo exciting. In the past we have always stayed on site at either the BC, WL or PO and love the sense of being part of it.

This time however we thought it would be better to get a 1 bedroom suite somewhere close by so that we can put him to sleep and still stay up later without waking him.

Any recommendations of somewhere close by so that we can get to MK easily, thats good for kids and is in the Duluxe catagory? Weve looked at the WLV but they seem v v expensive if you arent a DVC member.

Any help would be great.

Moose.

Rather than a suite hotel, have you considered renting a condo or house? We recently returned from Windsor Palms where we rented a 3-bedroom, 2-bath condo for $90/nite. They also have 2-bedroom condos which would be fine for you. They start at about $55/nite. They are practically brand new and very nice.

You can learn all about them at that site.

Also try looking on hotelkingdom.com for a resort called 'Cypresse Pointe' - this is where we're staying in November 2004 and the 2 bedroom suites with full kitchen inc Washer/dryer, dishwasher etc , 2 bathroom inc jacuzzi in the master room - all for $64 a night! That's about £38 a night at current exchange rates!!!! ::yes:: :)

Thanks for posting this, Moose. My husband and I will be taking our 3 year old to Disney in 2004 and were wondering the same thing.

In the past, we've always stayed at The Dolphin. However, we need a place where we can put the little cutie to bed early and I don't think The Dolphin has 2 room suites.

I have my eye on The Doubletree Club at Lake Buena Vista because I like the looks of the special kids room (bunk beds, TV). Then again, the place looks so hideous from the outside that I am a bit hesitant. Any thoughts?

This is my first post here, so I'll peruse the boards a bit.

Annaclaire - Welcome to the DIS! There are plenty of suite hotels in the Disney area. Pretty much something for every taste and budget. On the low end, you've got places like the Days Suites Maingate East. We stayed there in Nov. 2002 for $39.95/nite and thought it was a great value. Then there are mid-range and nicer places like Quality Suites, Homewood Suites, Holiday Inn Family Suites, etc.

One word of caution. "Suite" is a very misused word. In my book, a true suite is when the bedroom is seperated from the living room by a door, not just a half-wall or open archway. Some chains like SpringHill Suites (which is very nice) are not true suites by that definition, just oversized rooms.

And also keep in mind my earlier post. There are condos and pool homes in the area that offer more space and amenities than the hotels without spending much more. Condos start at about $55/nite. Homes usually start just under $100/nite.

Steve, thanks for suggesting villas and giving the link to Windsor Palms. I'd never even considered something like that, but it might be a good option.

Also, I agree with you that the term "suite" can be misleading. I definitely want 2 rooms.
