Which studio - BLT or Poly?

I am contemplating a studio for our next trip. There will be 3 adults and 2 children (5 and 2). The plan would be 2 adults in the bed, DD and I in the sleeper sofa and DS in a pack n play. I'm thinking that is way too tight.

I'm looking at BLT or Poly - would we all fit? I know we'd be there for nap time. It looks like there wouldn't be any room to walk around!

Option two would be two studios but I would like them close by. How lucky would we be to request adjoining studios?

Poly will have more room than the BKLT studios (which are the smallest regular studios on property). At the poly you can request connecting or adjoining studios but they are the only resort that has connecting ones. I don't know how often that request is made and fulfilled however.

We stayed in a BLT studio in May with a toddler using an inflatable toddler air mattress-it took up most of the room in front of the couch when in use and I really don't think a pack and play would have fit well too. I assume that with the sofa bed open you would be in the same situation. So that would leave the hall area right by door into the studio near the connecting door to the 1 bedroom and the kitchen area. I'm sure it would fit by the connecting door as that is where we stored an open umbrella stroller and several suit cases but not sure if the kitchen would work. Anyway I think it would be extremely tight for more than a night or two. We are staying at the Poly in Oct and since that is actually designed for 5 adults I think you would be more comfortable there if you really don't want to book 2 rooms-I would think that the pack and play shouldn't take up any more room than the Murphy bed when it is down and by all reports there is a lot of room in the baths so you may be able to set it up there as well. Plus the sofa bed is a queen not a full. As far as booking 2 studios when you make the reservations you would note traveling with reservation # xxxxxxx on both reservations and they will do their best to accommodate you. I would assume you odds at Poly would be higher than BLT simply due to the much larger numbers of studios avail. That said we were fortunate to have them place our studio close to our inlaws for our May trip. It was not adjoining but right down the hall (just a few rooms away).

If you are thinking about 2 studios...couldn't you do a 1 bedroom at BLT for about the same cost? While studios at BLT are small, the 1 bedroom is larger with a kitchen, washer/dryer and 2 bathrooms and you would be altogether

I love BLT - but the studios are way to small for 5 people - think they are too small for 4 people - now for 1 or 2 they are great!!! plus a kid to make 3. but even 3 adults could be a tight squeeze at BLT.

stayed at Polyn too - it is bigger although most of the space went to the bathroom - however love their balconies - they are really nice.

the smiths02 are correct - the 1-bedroom at BLT is large - you would have more than enough room with one

If looking at a single studio for everyone, Poly all the way. BLT studios are small and it would be very tight.
The Poly rooms are wider so there is room to walk around even when the sofa and Murphy bed are out. The sleeper sofa at Poly is a queen. Two bathrooms so you can get ready faster.


If looking at BLT 1BR vs Poly (two studios), it's a matter of preference.
1BR BLT has kitchen and more room to sit. Downside is it requires sleeper sofa to be used for your size group. BLT sleeper sofa was comfortable when it opened, not sure now that it's been used for 6 years. BLT 1BR has a king size bed in the master and a Jacuzzi tub.
2 Poly studios, has lose the kitchen. 2 queen size beds, could even sleep one adult on bed and one in the sleeper sofa. 2 additional showers/sinks over the BLT 1BR, additional balcony, 2 entrances (in case groups need to leave without waking whoever is in the main room).

358 of the 360 studios at Poly connect to another studio. It is very likely you will be given connecting rooms because they are reportedly treating that as the top request filled. However, they don't guarantee it, so it is a risk that many refuse to take. So far, I don't believe anyone has posted about not getting their connecting room request filled.

I also say Poly if only looking at 1 room. Otherwise if 2 "rooms" the 1 bedroom at BLT will give plenty of room and more amenities too.

POLY. BLT studio is way too small. We were very cramped with 4, two adults, a toddler, and a 1 year old in a pack n play. No room to walk anywhere.

I absolutely agree that if you're talking about your party being in ONE Studio, go for the Poly. I've been in both, and I think the Poly's Studios are the best in the DVC collection for a family staying in one studio room.

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. It definitely didn't feel like a BLT studio would fit all of us but I needed some first hand knowledge to know for sure!!

I love the idea of the Poly - the atmosphere, the Murphy bed, the extra bathroom. And, I had forgotten that the studios could be connecting. Definitely something to consider!

Anyone know how full Poly is at the end of May over Memorial Day weekend?

In either case, its tough to say you will get adjoining or nearby rooms.
Here are my pros and cons of both...

Pros...Poly rooms bigger, both access to monorail, BLT quick walk to MK, BLT boat to WL and FW(gives you some options on dining) Poly quick walk to TnTC for easier access to Epcot, both have great restaurants(give a slight nod to Poly on this one for Kona and Ohana, The Wave at Contemporary gets a nod too though) If driving, parking lots are spacious, BLT(including Contemporary) has a few more amenities

Cons...BLT is big, and can be a trek if you are at the far end poking out towards Bay Lake, Poly is spread out as well so its a hike at times to get to front area

Though I have never stayed in Poly DVC, I have stayed at the resort. Stayed at BLT twice. With that said, theming at Poly, love it, but for stay, I have to lean too BLT. Amenities alone give my nod too BLT

I'm curious if it's too cramped for the savings. The aggregavation of sleeping on top of each other has to be worth something!

Does DS 2 need to be in a pack and play, rather than the Murphy bed (it's really low to the ground)? I stayed at Poly with all of the beds open and we could still move around.

The poly studio is designed to be able to move around with the Murphy bed open so I would think a pack and play wouldn't be any different (with the Murphy bed closed). After having stayed in a Poly studio I can definitely say I would absolutely recommend a studio there over BLT. Walking to MK was great but the studio was cramped compared to the Poly. Getting ready in the morning would be much easier because of 2 showers and 2 mirrors/sinks for getting ready. Plus the Poly studios are close to TTC so you can take the express monorail from there and get on the Epcot monorail directly. That being said it is just a large hotel room so if that doesn't seem like it would work for your group then I would book 2 studios (or a 1 BR at BLT).

We enjoyed our Poly stay the last week of Oct but I found the counter service to be a bit less interesting than what it used to be. It was fairly disappointing in comparison to what it was a year or two ago IMO. However the Ohana feast room service was really something for our group!

I have to agree. My wife was disappointed when she discovered the Tonga Toast didn't come with the strawberry compote, but the pulled pork nachos are a favorite.

Thanks for the replies! I don't think DS would do well in the Murphy bed - but that trip is quite a ways in the future!

And, I had been thinking about using the Murphy bed for DD5 but then forgot when I wrote the post. Sounds like it's all manageable though. Thanks!

I vote for BLT 1BD as an option. I think 5 people in a studio would be REALLY tight, especially BLT. Poly would be a good option, it would be fewer pts than a 1bd, but you'd be missing out on the full kitchen, W/D unit, etc. if you went with a studio. And with BLT, you're WALKING DISTANCE to MK, which is really awesome. No breaking down strollers with sleeping little ones when you're heading "home"!
