Which stroller to buy? Volo or Triumph

Hi! We are going to Disney World in July.

Our daughter will be 13 months old. I was looking at stollers at Babies R Us, they didn't have the Volo, but we were looking at the Maclaren Triumph. It had the rain guard on it. We really liked the stroller. My husband is tall and he doesn't have to hunch over to push it so it is a good fit.

Does anyone have one that can comment on it? Does it recline? They had it for 139.99, can I find it cheaper somewhere else? Does the canopy provide enough shade?

Personally I would go with the Triumph over the Volo for a 13 month old. The Volo doesn't recline, it's just a regular bucket seat. Here is a link to the Volo on www.epinions.com They also have the Triumph listed so you can compare features and prices. I hope that answers your question.

I've had them both and wouldn't personally use either one for a 13 month old at Disney. I'd upgrade to the Quest (I have that one too- I'm a little bit of a Maclaren junkie). The Quest has more recline positions than the Triumph and extendable leg rests, so its MUCH better for naps. I LOVE the Quest. You can get new 2004 models on eBay from BabySurplus for about $125 shipped, so its less than the Triumph too. I've bought several brand new strollers from this seller and have never had any problems. Here are a few links:

I have a Mac Quest for my 14 month old. Excellent stroller! I bought a brnad new left over 2004 for about $125 including shipping - great deals on ebay! The recline is perfect for DS, come with the rain cover.

I have a Triumph, which I love. My 15 month old has no problem napping in it. The Triumph does have a narrow seat which is a problem for older children. Because of that, a Quest or Volo would probably be more cost effective (you can use it for longer). The Volo is super light weight. The 2005 model has a hood. The rain cover is separate. The Volo does not recline. The Quest has more recline positions, includes the rain cover, and has extendable leg rests. It has a carry handle, but not the carry strap. The Triumph has a narrower seat, carry strap, reclines, includes rain cover and has no extendable leg rests. I believe the 2004 Quests are selling for comparable prices to the Triumph on Ebay, so that is an incredible deal!

You might also consider the Silver Cross Mini or Micro, they are similar to the Triumph and Volo (respectively).

Also, if interested, you can usually pick up a used model on the yahoo group, strollerswap.

Just a testament to the Triumph...we bought it in advance of our upcoming Disney trip for my 2.5 year old daughter. We love the smooth handling, the storage basket, the rain cover. My daughter LOVES it (granted she is on the petite side so we have no trouble with the width of the seat). She loves the foot rest, the easy recline seat, and the shade hood. We used to have trouble convincing her to ride in the stroller and now SHE ASKS for it! We use it almost daily for walks to the playground and she frequently doses off on the way to and from. Sure you could upgrade to the Quest, but for me, I couldn't find a good deal and they didn't carry it in any local stores and I WILL not spend that kind of money without a test drive.

I would also go with the QUEST. You can find great deals on ebay. That's where I bought mine for about the price you listed for the triumph and you have a better stroller. I also have the volo for my dd4, it does not recline so I wouldn't even consider it for you little one. Maclaren's are great. They are so easy to push and maneuver around. I would shop around on the interet and I'm sure you can find a good deal.

we've got the volo -- actually bought it for a disney trip when our daughter was 2. It doesn't recline, but we've never had a problem with her "flopping". It is incredibly light and folds easily, and folds into a fairly small package -- very easy to get on and off trams with. It steers beautifully -- and you have perfect control using only one hand. Made of a mesh, so even if it gets wet, it pretty much shakes dry. The only downside of the volo at disney was that there were a lot of them -- we ended up putting one of my older daughters happy birthday pins on it so we could tell which one it was.

I'd also go with the Quest - reclines and has the footrest, and the seat isn't as shallow as the Triumph. You can find 2004 Quests on clearance at www.albeebaby.com (reputable NYC baby store) for $125-150 shipped!

I recently bought 2 Triumphs for my kids who are 4 and 7.5 for our June Trip . Got them on Ebay. got them and LOVE them. I am on the tall side and the handles are wonderful and long. My DD(7.5) is tall but skinny and she loves it. She actually tried them out and others at Babies R Us and she chose that one for comfort for her. Paid $89.99 + S&H. Not too bad...Husband thinks I am nuts ...oh well..he will survive.

I just got my Triumph today! The seat is a bit narrow but my son seems to fit OK. I bought it so that he could have it for our next two trips. I hope he still fits in it in December. His head sits above the back just a little.

I am wondering if I should try to exchange it for a different one. I wanted light weight and something he could get a lot of use out of. The old one he had he still had lots of room to grow but it was really wearing out and he was getting to heavy for it.

The stroller is wonderful and I love it. I am just thinking he is to big for it. He is 35 pounds and 38 inches tall.

Can someone tell me what the weight limit on the quest is? Is it 55 lbs like the triumph? When we tested strollers at babies r us, the triumph was the only one with a canopy tall enough to give my daughter plenty of room when she sat straight up (she is 3 yrs old, 41 inches tall, 40 lbs) Is the canopy on the quest just as tall? I was going to buy the triumph but it seems as if everyone thinks the quest is a better stroller. And if I can get it for the same price on ebay........

Yet another question--I am leaning towards a Quest and I wanted to ask about those who bought off Ebay or BabyDealz.com, according to the Maclaren website should there be issues the warranty would voided by not purchasing through an authorized dealer.

The only reason I mention this is I had a bad experience with my double Combi Twin Saavy that broke, and Combi would not help me because of buying through non-authorized reseller.

Has any had similar issues with the Maclarens?

Thanks for the info!! With a 6 month old and a just turned 5 year old we were struggling with what to do this visit--take two strollers (stroller #2 has about 100,000 miles on it-more than half of those are WDW miles) or rent one when I found this thread. I took DH to Babies R Us and we tried out the Quest and loved it!! I ordered the 2004 stroller and it should be delivered tomorrow.

I got a Volo and have loved, loved, loved it! I have a Peg Perego Pliko with all of the bells, whistles, reclines, etc. I like my Volo for my 3 year old and my husband loves it too. It is SO light, easy, quick to fold - really perfect for WDW. We took it there in April and are going again in September. I read a lot of reviews before deciding between the Triumph & Volo and I have to say after looking at the Triumph and reading how useless the sunshade is (which was my main reason for considering it) I passed. Plus, the Volo can literally be hosed down with water! My daughter doesn't need to recline because we usually go back to the hotel to rest instead of having her sleep in the stroller. It was nicer this way for all of us, but we were at the Poly and it was very easy. I don't think you can go wrong with Maclaren in general, but if anything happened to my Volo I would buy it again in a heartbeat!!!
