Which strategy to use for Easter Week

We are going to Disney during Easter Week this coming April..I know it will be very crowded...do you think we should take advantage of the Early Entry Mornings or there was another strategy someone mentioned on the boards of going to the park that had the extra hours the evening before....for example if MGM had late hours on a Tuesday then we would go Wed. Which one????

We went during Spring Break (not falling on Easter weeks) this year. We found Early Entry mornings to be great, while Extra Evening Hours to be horrible. We do first thing in the morning at EE parks or the Park that had EMH the previous day. We ride all the biggies by 11 or so when it starts to get busy, gathering FPs for later. We do FPs & smaller attractions til noonish, then break for a nice lunch, swimming & napping & then a nice dinner. We go back to the Parks in the evening for a few attractions & hit the hay early so we can do EE or Park opening the next day. It worked well for us during the SB crowds, so we are doing the same strategy in a couple weeks for summer crowds.

As you can tell, this is NOT a commando approach to the Parks. It makes for a very nice, relaxing trip. We have been so many times that we are more about relaxing than commando now.

We have gone the week before Easter and the week after Easter and had great trips both times. It is crowded, but honestly I noticed it more in terms of the wait time for buses at the end of the day and at the resort than in the parks. Disney does a good job of absorbing more people with additional cars on the rides and some extra entertainment throughout the parks.

Our strategy has always been to hit the EE park early and then switch parks if it seems crowded. Especially at the MK it is worth it to do the Fantasyland rides because the wait times for those are crazy at any other time. As far as the other parks go, check what rides are open early and decide if those interest your family.

I have (sadly) not been to the world since they started the evening extra hours. Back when they had E-ticket nights we were able to ride the mountains over and over again with virtually no wait but I've heard from others that the new program is drawing much bigger crowds. I'll be interested to see what advice others give you.

Happy trip planning!

Daisy,
It's time you learned of the cult of Mike. We sit at the feet of the Enlightened One and learn the secrets of the WD World. You can recognize us in the parks, as we will be the ones at the park at rope drop, chanting our mantra "No Lines, No Lines, No Lines"

We did easter last year and will do it this upcoming year because its when the ds spring break falls. It was our first time during that time of year and I did plan well, making all the dining arrangement ahead of time etc But still it was an eye opening experience for us. We go every year and we were suprised to find standing room only almost all the times on buses, actual lines to get a fast pass. Fast Passes with return time of like 6 hours later, this is not good if you want to park hop, stalking for tables at counter service restraurants, seeing people turned away with no adrs at table service restraunts. If you plan well you will have a good time. Just dont expect to do and see everything. Definetely we stayed out of the mk on easter sunday. we did breakfast at the beach club, spent the day in epcot, it was pretty uncrowded until the afternoon, then we hopped over to mgm for dinner, then the storm came and we high tailed it back to the hotel. If you have kids and are staying onsite your resort might offer special easter activities.

I used Tourguide Mike for the first time Easter Week 2004 and have been a believer ever since!
