To all you creative DISigners out there, what software do you use? Any special preference and reason?

I would like to start researching them as I'm interested in being able to create some of my own ideas, as well as create digital scrapbook pages.

Any information you can give me would be a big help! TIA!

I would recommend Adobe Photoshop Elements. It's less than $100 and there are lots of tutorials available on-line.

If you are just starting out Elements is ok to see if you like it, but it's really basic on what you can do with it. If you can afford it i would bypass elements and get Photoshop CS5.

Another option is GIMP.it's a good open source program(Free) that is pretty good and very similar to photoshop.

I beg to differ! I use Photoshop Elements and find I can do everything I want with it!! There are a ton of free and low priced add-ons available that let you do even more. Free tutorials are amazing too! It is up to the user to take it from basic to advanced but the features are there to go DISigning!!

If you want to shoot for the sky and pay hundreds of dollars, yes, Photoshop can do more.....but what features I don't know about I can't miss!! :rotfl2:

I use Photoshop CS5 for me it works good for DISigns and for photo editing.

I guess it comes down to how complex your designs will be. I am a photoshop fanboy for sure but have tried Elements before. It has it's limits but if you're happy with basic designing it should work for you.

Plus i use it for photography so it's a must have for myself.

I have and use CS4 but started off with PSE 1 then upgraded to 6. It's a good program and can do roughly 80% of what PS can do. Between the free and for purchase add-ons you could get easily to 85% or more. Price is probably the biggest issue. PSE can be found for under $100 while CS5 is around $600.

98% of the designs in my gallery were done with PSE. Only got CS4 a little over a year ago when Adobe made PSE users a difficult offer to refuse.

Yeah, the initial cost is a little scary. To upgrade is a lot cheaper but it's worth it because they really improve the program each time.

I should add that i may be pro Photoshop, but you can do really good work with minimal software. Milliepie told me one time she uses a program she bought real cheap and she is constantly turning out great stuff. So don't think you have to buy the most expensive program. I was just expressing my own opinions on what I prefer. :)
