Which size units are the hardest to get?

Was just wondering which units are requested most often: is it Studios, 1 bedrooms or 2 Bedrooms, or does it vary by resort?

We are thinking about starting off with a small resale of about 100 points but we were concerned we would have trouble getting studios or 1 bedrooms until we have the money to do an add-on sometime in the future where there is more flexibility to use the points however you want to.

TIA.

I am certainly not qualified to answer since we are new members too, but it seems if you have the option of two types of rooms - studios or 1BR - that increases your chances significantly over those that HAVE to have a
2BR or GV. Anytime there are options w/ DVC it has to be in your favor.

MS once told me the easiest to get was 1 bedrooms. They sleep the same as a studio but cost double the points.

Then it's a bit of a crap shoot. Grand Villas go first, then studios and two bedrooms.

I have made a lot of reservations for myself and others. The studios are the hardest to get. If you want a standard view at the Boardwalk you need to book eleven months out. OKW and SSR are easier to book because they have more units.

What about during the "off season" like September/January? Does the season affect what's in high demand. We don't have kids, so we usually travel Sept./Oct. But because there are only two of us, we only need a studio- is tis harder to come by during this time because its also when all the other "couples only" travel?
It seems like you can usually count on SSR or OKW at least during the slower seasons.

It is not hard to get reservations in September and January unless you are looking for a standard view studio. The parks are not crowded in those months so you can get on any ride without a wait. It is a good time to go on the kiddie rides.

IMO, September (after Labor Day) would be easier than January. In January, you have Marathon weekend and MLK, and both draw more people. For that month, if you want something specific at the BWV, you're best off doing a day-by-day reservation at 11 months. If you're more flexible as to location and resort, you shouldn't have too much trouble, even at 7 months. I'd still book a "home" reservation at 11 months to have as a fallback.
Good luck and happy vacations!:goodvibes

I called this morning for a BCV studio for 3 nights in August, but none were available. They had availability for a 1 bedroom. Good thing I had some extra points that I was planning on banking!

How about OKW GVs? I would imagine they would be near impossible as well, due to the low point value.

We were thinking someday of getting one, but decided to buy into BWV so we may never have the chance. Then again, not having deal with my BIL/SIL, nieces, and MIL/FIL in the same dwelling as us might not be the worst thing that could happen...

At BWV, After GV's, every non-dedicted studio booked removes a 2 BR from inventory and every 2 br removes a studio. I would say 2 BR is the harder one since there are some dedicated studios. As a result of all this, one BR's are always the last to go. A 2 BR standard view is probably harder to book than even the GV.
