Next year we will be doing a multi-city trip, flying from London to Vancouver, Vancouver to Los Angeles then home from LA to London. This is all new stuff to me as we've only flown direct with a Virgin package before.

I've kept a track of flight prices throughout the year so as to get an idea of prices using Expedia. What other sites should I be looking at?

Thank you. :)

I second the Kayak advice.

Just priced your itinerary, but only using dates in 2012 as 2013 is not released yet. And based on dates guessed from your tickers.

best price is currentely £912pp

here's something to chew on (next year's schedules should look relatively similar)

Flight 1 Tue, 7 Aug LHR to YVR – nonstop 9h 30m
Air Canada – Flights 855 9h 30m
Take-off Tue 10:25 LHR London, ENG, United Kingdom
Landing Tue 11:55 YVR Vancouver, BC, Canada
Coach | Boeing 777-300ER (Wide-body Jet) | 9h 30m | 4706 miles | 9+ seats remain
Flight 2 Tue, 14 Aug YVR to LAX – nonstop 2h 49m
Air Canada – Flights 552 2h 49m
Take-off Tue 11:40 YVR Vancouver, BC, Canada
Landing Tue 14:29 LAX Los Angeles, CA, United States
Coach | Embraer 190 (Narrow-body Jet) | 2h 49m | 1081 miles | 9+ seats remain
Flight 3 Tue, 21 Aug LAX to LHR – nonstop 10h 20m

This flight leaves on Tuesday and arrives on Wednesday.
United – Flights 934 10h 20m
Take-off Tue 17:55 LAX Los Angeles, CA, United States
Landing Wed 12:15 LHR London, ENG, United Kingdom
Coach | Boeing 777 (Wide-body Jet) | 10h 20m | 5440 miles | 9+ seats remain

Friend of mine recently used Dial a flight and said they were really helpful.

Another vote for dial a flight, however phone a few agents as well as they may have some better rates than the published fares.

Thank you :goodvibes I'll bookmark both those sites.

That's roughly what I've been coming up with throughout the year with Expedia, I've been checking every month and sometimes it's been a couple £ more, sometimes less, but it's been pretty consistent throughout the year.

How does it work if I book through a site like Kayak or Expedia. Am I still able to access my reservations to book my seats online, purchase bags etc just as if I booked direct with the airline?

sounds far more complicated than anything i would want to try sort out , i would probably use an agent like trail finders that specialise in multi stop tickets

Thanks :goodvibes but I don't mind researching it myself, I just need to know what sites I should be checking out! I've been busy :coffee: this morning and it may be cheaper for us to take the bus to Seattle and fly to LA from there - when the time comes to book we'll need to work out whether we want to pay more (and have less travelling time) to fly from Vancouver or pay less (and lose valuable holiday time) to go from Seattle. Seattle also lets us fly into John Wayne airport which is closer to Anaheim so will also have that to take into consideration.
