Which sites for a large RV?

My FIL just traded his 35ft RV for a 40ft RV with 3 pullouts. When there in November we were in the 100 loop and it was very tight with the 35ft. Can anyone recomend which sites would be best for us. I know there are 2 pullthru sites but we have 4 small children and have heard those sites were not very safe with children. TIA

Rather than asking for specific sites or loops it may be best to just let FW know the size of the rig and how many slides, that way the people who know the size of the sites can assign a site based on what they know vs what you think, based on secondhand opinions.

We've stayed in our 37 ft. motorhome in loops 300, 700 and 800. Granted we only have one slide, but our sites had plenty of room if we had had more. We've stayed in loop 100 in a 34 ft. motorhome and it was tight. I think loop 100 is the tightest loop - at least that has been our experience.

With that said, I will say on our last visit (Oct. 2006) we were issued a site in loop 300. When we arrived at the site, we could see that there was no way we could get into it. The site itself probably would have been fine, but there was no way we could back into it in our 37 ft. m/h (at least not without a divorce or a murder ) Anyway we looked around and talked to one of the guys cleaning the sites (he was scheduled to clean one that we could get into), called the front desk, told them our problem and that there was another site in the loop that we could get into and they gave us that one.

Later, we watched as someone else in about a 40 footer tried the site we were initially issued - lots of colorful language and one destroyed sign later, they moved on.

Lastly, just FYI - the loops we stay in are pet loops. Some folks are okay with that, others not so much.

I'm sure you mean slide outs, but as far as a site for a big rig, the 700 loop (preferred pet) has many large, easy to back into sites. When we were there a couple of weeks ago I called it millionaires row because of all the 40' to 45' million dollar plus motorhomes. Looked like Lazydays Crown Club.

Agree with just letting CRO know about sizing requirements.

I met my in-laws at Fort Wilderness in November.
By the time my flight came in, they had already checked in and managed to pull their 40' RV with 3 slideouts into the assigned site.

We were in the 300 Loop and had told them when making the reservation that it was a 40' with 3 slidouts.

The site was so tight, I can hardly believe they got into it. Each time we entered the camper we'd need to push aside a couple of branches from blocking the doorway- and if we wanted to sit at the table in the back of the campsite (which we decided not to do) we'd need to huddle down and walk underneath the slideouts. There was absolutely no space on either side of the RV.

I'd certainly recommend looking at the assigned site first. Next time, if it looks tight I'm hoping that they'll just ask for a different site.

We have stayed in the 400, 1400, 200 and 100 loops and have gotten our 42 foot motorhome in each time. The 400 loop site and the 200 site was very tight. In fact the 200 site was so small that it was the only time I have ever cried while driving the motorhome. If you get there and have a site that you think is too small, and you can't get into, you can get reassigned. For what it's worth, our 100 loop site this trip was by far the biggest one we ever stayed at. So, there are a couple at the end of the loop that are pretty easy to get in.

Went to the Fort in September with my 22' TT and super crew f-150. The particular loop doesn't seem to matter as much as the individual site and the angle that it meets the road. For example our site in the 900 loop was relatively perpendicular to the loop road (alright for my Coachman) but 2 or 3 sites down had some of those 40'ers I drool over. I thought "dang, I would never be able to get that into my site" but then I noticed that those sites were closer to parallel with the loop road and therfore easier to back in. As for width of the site, again that is on a site-by-site basis, and all are a little narrow as Disney tries to maximize sites but still provide some privacy.

We requested 100 loop with our ressie, but will fax/call a couple of days before with specific requests - preferred, close to marina, close to comfort station. Our "Disney Express" is quite long - 35 foot TT pulled by Crew Cab/Long Bed - so about 58 ft. total. From Google Earth view, the 700 loop looks favorable for backing in. I'll trust the assigner to get us where we need to be..

Only 56 days until we leave for our first Disney Camping experience..!!

Decide what you want the most, and make it first on your request list. The current information I see is that site assigners have been getting swamped with requests where people are requesting 5 or 6 things. Disney will now try their best to fill only your first request.

Looking at your list, preferred is not a request - it is a level of service you are paying for; so you willl be on a preferred loop. Now with the rest of it, which do you want more, a loop close to the marina or to be close to a comfort station in the loop you are assigned. Whichever it is, list it first.

We're used to walking a bit for showers, so that's no big deal. And since my in-laws will be staying at WL, we will probably just go with a request for "close to marina". As always, thanks for the info/tips..

Just a caveat about making a point about letting them know what you need. We love FW and have been there countless times in everything from a tent to a 38 5th wheel with slide-outs and full awnings.

We had one very bad experience with the 5th wheel. I was so concerned about getting a big enough site instead of just calling central reservations I also called the FW desk to ask how to make sure we clearly communicated our needs. When we got there, we could barely get into the site. We got the slideouts open, but the awning was hopeless.

When I went to the desk, he pulled up the description of the site they put us on it said "difficult back-in. No 5th wheels or awnings". There were no other sites available. We still had our usual magical Disney time, but it was kinda disappointing after the effort I went to to get a big enough site!

We have a 40' 5th wheel w/3 slides pulled by an F-350 long bed truck. Last October I made sure when we checked in that the guy knew what we needed. I also told him we're not great backers and if possible to please give us a site that wasn't real hard to back into.

We got to the site and it was waaaaay too short for just the camper much less the truck. There was another site up the road but no way we could back into it with the trucks parked up against the edge of the street across from it.

We drove around the loop and found one that looked the right length that we thought we could get into (most were too short). They let us have it. Even after we were in my dh still had to park the truck at the front in the lot. With a tree on one side next to the road and the elec. box on the other side we couldn't even park the truck parallel to the road and the site was too short for us to back the truck in front of the camper.

Also, the site was super close to the one next to it with no privacy. Our slide was about 3 feet from their awning
