Hi All,

My sisters and I are surprising my Mom with a trip to WDW on her 60th :bday:.

My Mom and Dad are DVC owners and usually go twice a year, so we're going to have to go above and beyond to make this extra special.

Which Signature Restaurant would you choose to celebrate such a special occasion at?

We are planning on having dinner at Le Cellier and Grand Floridian Cafe for our other ADR's.

Thank you!

I picked Flying Fish because it has the best food of the ones listed but if I were doing something really special, I'd pick Victoria & Alberts.

I voted FF because that's our fave. It's my favorite dining room of the signatures we've tried. It's just gorgeous, and we love the food there.

It kind of depends on what your parents prefer though. If they would enjoy seeing Wishes from "on high", I'd go with Cali Grill. If they would enjoy going strolling the Boardwalk, I'd book Flying Fish for sure. If they would enjoy looking at the AKL animals before or after dinner, Jiko would be great.

I voted for Jiko! We tried it in May to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and it was really really good.:thumbsup2

I would say the California Grill.

Every time the wife and I go, the food is excellent, the service is exemplary, and the atmosphere can't be beat.

Also, getting to watch Wishes from the roof deck is aces!

:thumbsup2

Agreed, sir. However, I would add that your dinner reservations should be made for 8 in the evening or so, as the waits tend to be upward of an hour at the CG. So if you want to catch the fireworks, some planning is in order. For instance, getting a dinner reservation at 8:45 p.m., thinking you can catch the fireworks while you dine, is not always realistic. Honestly, though, while the fireworks are great there, and the Jimminy Cricket thing is way cool coming through the restaurant speakers, there is a Mexican restaurant in Epcot that is great to watch Illuninations from. I don't remember the name of it, unfortunately, but it was awesome

We ate at both Citricos and Cali Grill on our last trip. Citricos was the hands down winner for both food and service. Citricos is the one restaurant we will be returning to on our trip next month. I'd definately go to Citricos! ::MinnieMo

I voted for Jiko. It is my favorite Signature. We had a dinner celebration for our 40th Anniversary there last week. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was beautiful.

My pick would be Bistro de Paris. It's a wonderful "special" restaurant, a bit above (and more adult) than many of the others. If not, then I'd suggest Jiko's for your mom's b'day dinner.:thumbsup2

It would seem that you do not have a preference of type of ethnic food offerings, so I selected Citrico's. None of the others come close to the service which is consistent. Food quality/preparation is excellent.

Last time we ate at FF we thought it was fantastic. I guess it depends on what type of food your mom enjoys.

Thank you for all your responses! My Mom enjoys all types of food. We have eaten at and enjoyed Boma's, Sanaa, Mama Melrose, Biergarten, Marrakesh and more. I'm not sure about sushi though. :) We were originally leaning towards CA Grill, but she's eaten there a couple of times so maybe Narcoossee's might be the way to go. Still seems to have a nice view of wishes? Maybe we could do an early dinner and then head to the rooftop lounge at Bay Lake Towers have champagne and watch from there? I LOVE Disney planning!

This really shows "to each his own." We ate at Flying Fish this past trip. Although it wasn't a bad meal, we certainly didn't feel it was worth double-points. And "It's just gorgeous..." What? My memory calls it boring and under-decorated.

Please don't think I'm slamming you. I just laughed when I read your post and thought that it was really funny that our impressions were almost exactly opposite.

My choice is Jiko. We thought that was "gorgeous," and the food (as well as the service) was amazing.

To OP: My suggestion is to check the menus online and see what you think you'd be interested in. If you're interested in atmosphere, pay close attention to the pictures. Only you know what your family will like.
