Which "section" of Pop Century?

Hello all. I'm new to this section of the boards and hope you can offer some guidance. After a trip last June to WDW--staying in ASMo, I'm beginning to plan a trip for March 2006. My reading has told me that as far as Value Resorts go, POP Century might be the best....newer, lower tax rate (WHY ON EARTH...I can't figure that one out)...

Can anyone suggest which section of Pop to stay in? It would be DH, DD 11, DS8 and me. We enjoyed ASMo, but this seemed like a good place to try for our next trip. Any areas better for busses, etc? Quieter? TIA for all of your help!

P.S. IF anyone wants to comment on the following, I'm looking for advice in this area too...I'm planning for 3rd week of March, 2006--our Spring Break. Easter is in April next year, so I'm thinking March might not be as bad as usual? We went 2nd full week of June this year so that is my only comparison. Crowds were managable to me, FPs and lines of about 15-20 min. max. Heat was a problem though and we just didn't have rainshowers in the afternoon as I thought we would, we had torrential downpours in the evenings! I'd glady take the same crowds in March with better weather. Any thoughts? TIA, again!

I personallly liked the 70's building that was near the main building and busses, was quiet enough, yet close enough to everything without paying for the 'premium' rooms. also the reason it is cheaper than the all stars is only because pop is actually located in a different county, and the taxes are cheaper in that county than where the all starts are located.
:D

We had stayed at Pop for ten nights in November. We stayed on the top floor (no one running above you) in the fifties section overlooking the pool. We never had a problem. We were very close to the food court and buses and never heard any noise from the pool area.

Our family loves Pop Century! In April 2004 we stayed in the 70s building on the first floor. It was very quiet and close to both the main pool, food court and busses. In December of 2004 we stayed in the 80s building - again on the first floor and directly in front of the computer pool! My kids loved the location! We were slightly futher from the food court and busses, however; Disney has done a great job at making walkways convenient at Pop Century. Also during our December trip we used the rental car more for transportation. The 80s building had a parking lot right behind the 80s building. I really believe that Pop Century has been configured much better than the All Stars. Just figure in what your family needs are and decide which location works for you.

POP rocks, and it's way cooler than the All Stars, it's sort of in between value and mod and it's great! Don't forget the Hippy Dippy Pool! :flower1: :flower1:

Stayed in 80s building which I thought was fairly convenient to bus, parking and food court. Enjoyed our stay at POP.

I recommend the 70's Building. Building B rooms 0101-0472. That is a regular building (not preferred) but literally just as close as the preferred building. But to be totally honest there is not a far away building. This resort is really small (compared to others). Even the 90's buildings is not really far. Here is a map to help. What you see circled is the the 70's Building and Classic Hall (the main building w/check in and food court)! :earboy2:

We've stayed there three times... once in 70's, once in 80's, and once in 50's. By far the best location was 70's B. It's a stones throw to the bus stop and food court. :)

If you're renting a car, the 50's was closer to the parking lot. If you face the pool, a word of caution, it's open till midnight and yes there will be people out there till midnight yelling and screaming. Fine for them, it's their vac. too, but if you don't care to hear it , request a room not facing the pool. Don't bother with preferred 60's building, resort is laid out pretty nice, nothing is too far away like the AS's

j/k hehe

We stayed in the 90's building and didn't really care for the location. It didn't feel like we were right in the "middle" of the excitement. The pool area was really basic. We had the refillable mugs and didn't use them much due to the distance to the food court. I would recommend the 70's or 50's. My husband said he wouldn't stay at POP again and he enjoyed ASMo & ASMu.

We stayed in the 50's building, top floor, facing the lake and could see the fireworks from Epcot from the walkway! What a great view for a value resort.

Just curious...what is a "preferred" room? Sounds like 70's is the way to go. Thanks all!

Another question....do you think you could see the fireworks from any top floor, facing the right direction of course!

My family stayed in the 50's section facing Hourglass Lake!!! The room was AWESOME!!!! It was a lake view at a value-resort! No noise and a WIDE OPEN view!!! I would definetly reccommend this section to you, enjoy your trip!

EDIT -- You can see the fireworks from the 4th floor of the 50's section rooms facing Hourglass Lake!!!
