which Sat Nav for trip to LA

I want to buy the Sat Nav in the UK before we go.

I know you can get US maps from Ebay etc, can anyone recommend a cheap sat nav that works with US maps.

I don't want to spend a fortune, as we won't use it much at home.

I usually use a good old fashioned map for Florida.

A lot of people rave about the Tom Tom's but the newer versions do not have a SD slot to change the maps from UK to USA.

My son has a Garmin Nuvi which are quite a lot cheaper now which comes with a SD slot and you can pick up USA maps on Ebay for under £50. My son got his for £25 but cant find a listing for that at moment.

We used out TOMTOM 920 last year. We spend 17 days driving all around California including in and around LA and it was great.
