Which rooms go first?

I am considering a DVC purchase for the family. We will probably start with 1 BR for the next couple years and then will need 2 BR because my 3rd DD will no longer qualify for the extra 'crib' spot.

So, which room types are the hardest to get? Studio, 1 BR, 2 BR, Grand Villa, lockoff/dedicated? Does it vary from resort to resort?

(Hope this isn't retreading old discussion. I couldn't find anything with a search.)

Usually Grand Villa's/Beach Cottages are first to go at 11 month "home resort" reservation window.(Fewer units and higher demand for large families). Studios are usually last to be filled. Hope to welcome you home soon!:)

I've got to disagree about the studios going last.

Just as the Grand Villas go first because there are so few of them, the studios tend to book because of their low point value.

It's been my experience that it's usually the 1 bedrooms that are still available when making last minute plans.

hi: it's been our experience that the "standard view" rooms go before anything else due to the lower point values at bwv. when i've called at 10 months out, i've had to waitlist for the sv rooms. there have also been times when i've had to waitlist for 1br units but could get studios. i really think it depends on how popular a time of year you are going. i was waitlisted for a 2br the first week of november last year for over 6 months. it will really depend on how flexible you are on dates and which resort(s) you will stay at. travelling with teens, they like our home resort(bwv) and prefer to stay there.

I was told a while back by a sales manager that OKW order is GV, studio, one bedroom, two bedroom.

I think Std view BWV studios are probably very close to OKW Grand Villas. Not only do you have to call on the first day, many times of the year you have to call early, before 9:30 am, to get either.

We're a family of 5, so I always am booking a 2bdrm. I have never had a problem getting a standard view at BWV at the 11 month window. Just did it last week for March 29 - April 4, 2003, and we didn't call for each day. Booked all but the last on Friday, and the final day on Monday. However, when we waited that extra month to call, I did end up waitlisting for the standard view for one night. That came through the following month.

We asked the MS rep that very question when we called this last time. Her response was in her experience, if you call at the 11 month window, you "usually" will have no problem getting a 2bdrm standard view. Obviously, holiday's would be a different story.

At OKW we booked a 2brdm six months out with no problem.

I don't have the definitive answer, but from personal experience, I can say for a fact that in August 19, 2000, we got one of the two remaining 2BR suites at BWV at the 7 month booking window. I was surprised that nearly all the 2BR units were booked.

Sorry for giving misinformation.:o I was basing it on our personal experiences in booking at OKW,VB. I think it can still really depend on the time of year.

This is areally very easy to answer, because it's a variation of Murphy's Law:

The first rooms to go are always the ones you want the most.

Last time this was brought up someone brought up a good point that this will undoubted change over the years. Those people who have a family right now that get a 2 bedroom my end up switching in 20 years to a 1 bedroom or even a studio. So it is possible that the lesser accomadations might even be harder to get later in years.

There is also the possiblility of taking kids and grandkids in later years and needing bigger accomadations, so I think this is going to change a lot over the years.
