We are going in a few weeks. Which areas and rooms would you suggest?
Also which also that are less noisy but not to far to walk to bus area?
My mother in law has problems walking?
Or should I requst a Handicap room for her?
Thanks!!!

Pop Century has elevators, so any upper floor anywhere that's not facing a pool should be nice and quiet, as well as accessible for your Mom. :) Unless she has trouble getting in and out of the bathtub a handicap room probably isn't necessary (the handicap rooms have roll-in showers.)

We stayed at the end of the 50's building last trip - very peaceful! If you look at the map, you can see which areas will have the shortest walks.

Supposedly, booking a preferred room will keep you closer to the bus/food court/gift shop, but that is not always the case.

ETA: We're taking my Mom in December. She has trouble walking as well, so we're renting an ECV for her. Would your M-I-L consider that? It's about $225 for a week's rental.

get her a wheelchair when you arrive.

I would go for 50's lakeside - don't get a preferred.

Just FYI: Not all handicapped rooms have roll in showers. At least the ones at the AS don't. I received (didn't ask for) a handicapped room at AS Sports this past May. When I walked in and saw that king size bed, I was not happy. I'm a bubble bath girl and wanted a bathtub, not a shower. I immediately ran into the bathroom. The first thing I saw was all the rails on the walls, but the next thing I noticed was the nice bathtub (no shower:cool1: ). It had a handheld shower head.

As far as the OP?: I'd choose top floor facing the lake and try to get M-I-L to get an ECV. My mom has really bad arthritis in her knees and there is no way she could do all the walking required at WDW. She's also a diabetic and walking and the heat really affect her blood sugars. We get her an ECV from Walkers Mobility. She doesn't use one at home, but even though arguing about it for her first trip, she now loves them, knowing she's not going to be so tired and sore at the end of each day.

1) Get a top-floor room.
2) Otherwise, you might hear
. . . people tramping about
. . . toilets flushing

Unfortunately these are all requests (except maybe the handicapped room, but be advised that most handicapped rooms have king beds - great if you are not staying in the same room as she is). The more requests you make, the less likelihood you have of getting them. I'd pick the two that are most important. You'd be better off asking for a room facing the lake than for "50s building facing the lake" - there is an 80s building that also faces the lake and it's pretty quiet back there. You'd be even better off requesting a higher floor that does not face a pool.

and you should probably think about an ECV because if you pay for a preferred location, it's more likely you will end up near a pool- and that's where the noise is. And you have to pay for a preferred location to ensure being near the main building. You could try paying for preferred and requesting that you not face a pool.

I was in the 50's facing the parking lot....
Very quiet:goodvibes '
Walk not to bad....

Request a top floor....
either a parking lot or lake view.....

NEVER FACING ANY POOLS
Have fun
