Where have you stayed where you did not feel to cramped with 5 people?
We do not want to stay at value mod or deluxe but can only afford 1 bedroom.

Are there any with 2 queens and a sofa? or pull out trundle?

You need a deluxe, DVC, FW Cabins, or a suite at All Star Music. The mods are all two full beds, no pull outs, or one King--same as the values. Only 4, with two of them small, can be comfortable in the vals or mods.

Exception: The new suites at Music can do 5, with two in a pull out sofa and one in a pull out chair--the other two in a king.

FW Cabin can sleep 6.

Most--but not all--of the deluxes have two queens and a day bed that will sleep one. WL does not.

Port Orleans Riverside also has some rooms that sleep 5. If you call Disney direct, they'll be able to tell you. Have a fun trip!

We are a family of 5 and always stay at POR Riverside. They can accomadate 5 people in AB section with a trundle bed. You will have to call an request this when booking.
P.S. It's beautiful there and very relaxing!!

I just went through this and decided that the POR trundle rooms looked too cramped for the 5 of us. So the options ended up being 2 rooms at a value or mod or a deluxe resort. We decided to just go with the deluxe because the cost wasn't much more than 2 rooms and we really didn't want to stay at a value. We decided on Poly and from what I've heard about Poly I'm glad we did.

So only a deluxe will hold 5 other than POR, a suite at all star, or FW cabin?? I'm thinking of taking my sis and her son & daughter 5 & 9. So me,dd5(then), sis and her two. No elevator in POR sounds like no fun, and I'll be footing the bill, so I'd like to go as cheap as possible while maintaining the magic. Also want to get dining plan to eliminate worry on her part. Any ideas??

And yes, I'm considering 2 rooms at POP, but don't want to subject them to POP lines as the 1st exposure to onsite Disney if I can help it. May end up doing it anyway :(

dvc resorts - rent a 1-bedroom from a DVC member and stay at OKW - it is much roomier than the others.

bring an air mattress for the other person. with the sheets and pillows.

it has a king bed in the master, a queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom.

it has a nice big livingroom, full kitchen, laundry room, big master bath - with a shower stall and a whirlpool tub.

no housekeeping when you rent from a DVC member.

the studio at OKW has 2 queen beds - but it only allows 4 not 5 guests.

POR sounds right for you. 2 full size beds and a trundle. Plenty of room for 2 adults and 3 children. Any of the children will be fine on the trundle. Although there are no elevators, the Alligator Bayou section with the trundle beds are only 2 stories, so at most you'll only need to walk up 1 flight of stairs! Beautiful relaxing resort with good pools for the kids!

I looked into all these options also. Here's the reasons I didn't go with the other options:

2 rooms at Value or Suite at all star - I've read too many bad stories about lines/food/noise/bus service at the values and didn't want our experience ruined by something like that. I've also read some good stories too but we've only stayed at Mods in the past and didn't want to take the chance.

POR - the pictures of the trundle rooms looked really small and since our kids will be 4, 12 and 13, I knew such a small room would only create "issues".

FW Cabins - I almost picked these because I love camping (I was an Asst. Scoutmaster in our son's boy scout troop) but the dining choices were not very good and the fact that everyone recommended renting a golf cart for the week so that you could get around didn't seem like it would be something my family would enjoy. We ate the resort food court almost every day the last time we were at WDW and I couldn't see trying to squeeze 5 of us and our stuff on a golf cart at the end of a long day at the parks after being on a crowded bus.

The other option would have been 2 rooms at a mod but the price wasn't that much different than the deluxe resorts so we elected to spend the extra money (about $400) to stay at the deluxe.

Hope this helps a bit.

does POP have elevators? We definately want something with elevators since we will have alot of luggage.

we also have 5 in our group, we couldn't afford a deluxe so we did POR. We have 2 dd7's and a ds13, so had the additional problem of ds being to old to sleep with his sisters. We brought a twin air mattress for ds but the girls thought it looked better then the other bed for some reason. Ds ended up in a bed, one dd had the trundle, the other had the air mattress, and they were all happy. We put the mattress either by the sinks, or pushed the table over towards the wall and put the mattress in front of that. We could still get into the bathroom without having to climb over the mattress.

yes Pop definitely has elevators - they are in the middle of the buildings.

but if you have alot of luggage use the luggage service - they will help with your luggage. this is not a bell service so they don't expect to be tipped - however tips for good service is always appreciated.

The Family Suites at All Star Music are quite roomy.

*** They are 520 square feet.

*** The Family suites are located in the Jazz and Calypso buildings at All Star Music.(these are the closet buildings to the food court and the bus stop.

*** They cost less than a standard room at AKL or WL.

*** They have a QUEEN size bed (the other values and even the mods do not have a queen bed.

***the fridge is included (if you booked 2 connecting value rooms you would need to pay $10 extra for a night for a fridge if you wanted one.

*** They come with a microwave and coffeepot (If you booked 2 connecting value rooms you would not even be be able to rent a microwave and coffeepot.

***They have 2 TV's (if you book POR or a Deluxe room which sleeps 5 you will have 1 TV)

THey have 2 bathrooms (if you book POR or a Deluxe room which sleeps 5 you will have 1 Bathroom.

----------------------------------------------

Dh and I stayed at new Family Suites at All Star Music September 21,2006.

We stayed in 0416 which is on the ground floor. Room 0418 which was next door was not a Suites so the Suites are not all grouped together.
The living area was the best. There was a small table with 2 blue modern looking chairs by the window area.

The chairs had a small amount of cushioning and curved backs and seemed more conformable (to me) than the old straight back chairs they had in the old All Star Music rooms. The table top was wood grain and there were silhouettes of Mickey all abound the edge in a darker wood color.

The living room area is very roomy when the furniture is the closed position.

When you first enter the room you get a feeling that you can take time to relax and spread out in these rooms. The cramped feeling is not there. there is a sofa, chair and ottoman which fold out into beds. There are two small end tables and soft foot stool for the sofa.

The TV was a 27 inch flat screen and the cabinet had three drawers under the TV area. There were two shelves next to the TV and a cabinet door which opened to reveal 2 more shelves.

I opened up the chair bed and it was very comfortable to lay down on. The back of the chair actually rests on the floor supporting the chair bed when it is folded out into the bed. It was pretty amazing the way they designed the pull out furniture!
The frame of the bed is metal so when I went to get of the chair bed I did feel the metal bars at the edge of the bed.

I tried to get the ottoman into the master bedroom area but I am sorry to say the ottoman is just too wide and will not fit through the door jam.

The sink and closet areas in the suites also have privacy curtains.
The sink areas have 2 shelf cubbies under them for storage and a Kleenex tissue area under them. There are wall mounted hair dryers with the built in amber night lights on the walls by the sinks.

Each dressing area has a privacy curtain, closet area, iron, ironing board and wall safe. The wall safes are the standard size which will hold a wallet a cell phone a small DVD player, a personal CD player, or a few CDs but it is not large enough for a lap top or anything that is more than a couple of inches wide.

9-26-2006-32.jpg

Remember the Suites have 2 bathrooms, 2 dressing areas with privacy curtains, 2 safes, 2 hairdryers, 2 closets, 2 TVs, 2 separate sleeping, areas and 2 TVs.

Here is the layout of the Suite:

The kitchenette has a lot storage area also.
There was an ice bucket with 6 plastic cups on the countor and a coffeepot with 6 of the throw away foam hot cups.
There were 6 paper plates, 6 paper bowls, Paper towels and a silverware tray on an upper shelf.
The silverware container had 6 sets of plastic ware and a can opener in it.

The kitchenette has a nice size microwave, and the fridge is the larger under the counter dorm fridge. The fridge has small freezer on the top which was big enough to freeze my 3 small ice pacs for my meds. The area for the freezer is not very high. You might be able to put a couple of small water bottles in it to freeze them but a larger water bottle would not be able to fit in the freezer area.

The Master room was nice size and it was nice to have a desk area with a mirror over it so it also sure as a make up area if one chose to it as such.
The TV cabinet had 3 nice size storage drawers. The easy chair next to the bed was nice addition. I enjoyed being able to sit there instead of using a table chair or bed to sit.

The queen size bed was conformable. The AC at newly refurbished has been updated to Cental air style instead of the old under the window style. It worked fine while we were there. Our room was very quiet.

The Master area had enough room for a twin size aero bed if you placed the bed with one end by the window and had it running between the desk and the foot of bed. (You would need to move the desk chair out of the way. )The aero bed would block the access of the Queen size bed from the far side, however. The bed was a Queen.

There were only a few things in our Suite that were different from those pictured on the DIS resorts homepage.

1) The headboard was smaller than the one pictured here taken from the DIS resorts homepage.

2) The tile on the kitchen floor and bathroom floor was tan and navy blue instead of the tan and white in the pictured room.

3) Ironing boards and iron were in each closet area.

Mousekeeping was great.

Mousekeeping left plenty of towels and we were pleasantly surprised by a pair of love bird towel animals when we returned to our room on evening midway through our stay!

The Calypso pool was never crowded even though the Fantasia pool at Movies was closed during the time we stayed Music.

We never waited more than 5-10 minutes for bus and only shared buses on the way back from some of the parks. Music always had its own bus back from MK.

Any questions? Just ask and I will try to answer them.

When my family of 4 stayed at CBR last summer we were able to rent a roll-away bed for my DS. How come you can rent an extra bed which would make the room have enough beds for 5 people but you can't actually have 5 people staying there?

Because occupancy rules are based on the number of bodies in the room and not in the amount of space in the room. Fire evacuation is based on the egress space and not on the area in the sleeping room.

We are a family of 5 and stayed at the Contemporary Resort in 2003 and felt that we had plenty of room. We loved the room and being on the monorail. Jump into the elevator, down a few floors and you are right at the monorail. Hoping to stay there again on our next trip!!

For what its worth, my kids LOVED Pop Century. They think the buses are one of the rides. LOL

The resort is so friendly to kids. And we never had to wait long for anything. So much to explore there.
Even being a "value" resort, it is still the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. Disney does not hold back the magic. :)

We got 2 rooms, and it was still less expensive than a FW cabin, and that gave us 2 bathrooms. Ours were connecting, so you could request that.

We also have stayed at the FW cabins, and loved that very much also. Some people don't like the bus system at FW, but we didn't mind it at all. But we are laid back about such things.
The extra bathroom at Pop was helpful, though.

You will have a good time no matter where you stay.

Minnie - thanks for all the great info on the AS suites! I was just going to post a question about them and you gave me a bunch of information to work with. They look fun!
