Which Room at the Contemporary?

We are staying at the Contemporary for the first time in January. I just now looked at a map of the resort and discovered that the tower rooms and the garden wing rooms were in different buildings. We are using DVC points to stay there and only have enough points for a Garden Standard room.

Do you have any suggestions of what I should request with my room to make sure that we don't have to hike a mile to get to the monorail. I don't really care anything about the view. But, I will be alone with a 2 year old and a 10 year old. Are there any rooms that put you close to the walk way to the Magic Kingdom or to the Main Tower? Should I request a room on one of the top two floors or is the ground floor ok?

Thanks in Advance for any suggestions!!!

I've stayed at Contemporary, but in the Tower. There is a Contemporary thread on this site that is very informative. Do a search to find it. Your question is not uncommon and I am sure you will find the answer there.

Not to be a snot, but why not just request "room as close to main building and monorail as possible?"

I'm planning to do that but, sometimes you can word your request in another way to make sure that you get what you want!

Thanks for the help, I'm looking for the thread!

The North Garden Wing is closest to the food court, monorail, bus, and Magic Kingdom walkway. I stayed in the Contemporary over the summer, with a 2nd floor waterview room. It was at the far end of the building, but still a relatively short walk to get to the tower or buses. I'm sure if you asked for a room in advance closer to the tower it would work out better for you.

We stayed at the CR in May and had a room in the North garden wing that was extremely close to the tower. We pretty much walked out the door and into the elevator and could go right in the Food and Fun Center in minutes (and cut through there to get to the elevators to the monorail or you could walk along the walkway in the back of the hotel to get to the main doors that went to the lobby elevator). I haven't kept up with the rehab info but if the F&FC is still there and operating it is great to be close to it. Also we were very close to the walkway to the MK....much faster to walk to the MK than take the monorail.
