My wife is very much afraid of snakes. Even a picture of one on the internet, newspaper, in a movie, on a drawing, etc. Please let me know which rides, places, etc. to avoid. We will be visiting Disney World and Seaworld 8/13-8/20. I know the following at Disney World have or might have snakes in them:

Honey I Shrunk the Audience 3-D movie
Someplace in the Animal Kingdom has snakes in a cage and a drawing on a wall.
Fear Factor I think has snakes.

Thanks,

Roland

Definitely avoid fantasmic! There is a giant snake at the end. Also the Great Movie Ride I believe has the Indiana Jones sequence which may have snakes. Someone correct me if the sequence has no snakes.

You are correct about Honey I shrunk the audience, must avoid it, the snake comes out at you 3-D style!

Animal Kingdom has snakes. Just ask when you get there where they are and then avoid them. We have never seen them so they must not be easy to run into.

It may have snakes, but since there is no much attraction at WDW, I think she'll be safe. ;)

Yes, as mentioned, the Great Movie Ride has hundreds of "snakes" in the Indiana Jones section, and that huge "spotlight-eyed" serpent in Fantasmic!

There is a snake or two featured on the Jungle Cruise.
There are rubber snakes for sale in Adventureland and in DAK.

There is likely a representaion of a "silly" snake in Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade at DAK.
There are snakes (real ones) as I recall in one (or both) of the self-guided "walking trails" in DAK.

Yes, the great movie ride has lots and lots and lots of snakes. I think the Jungle boat ride has one too.

There is also a bench that has a moving snake on it. I think it is by Haunted Mansion but I have never seen it. This bench is out in the open not part of a ride.

I don't know of any such bench, so whomever described it to you must have seen a REAL snake on a real bench!

Oh yeah, there is a "rattlesnake" (with sound effects) along the left side of the WDW Railroad steam train between Frontierland and Mickey's Toontown Fair stops.

And I would not be surprised if there was one somewhere along the tracks of Big Thunder Mountain (but it would be "gone-by" very quickly, if there was.)

Hi, Roland! I have the same phobia as your wife. My older sister and a cousin used to scare me constantly with rubber snakes (throwing them around my neck, putting them on me while sleeping, etc.) so that now I have an irrational fear of any thing to do with snakes. I'll give a list of where I've run into snakes in the parks.

Magic Kindgdom:
1) I've never seen the bench mentioned above, but you can bet I'll avoid it!
2) On the train passing through the Frontierland section, there are rattle snakes on a rock and they are rattling and making hissing noises and poised ready to strike.
3) The Jungle Cruise has a big snake wrapped around a tree plus when the boat goes through the temple there is a section with a row of cobras lined on each side. I rode this once when I was 13 and I went crazy and got down on the floor of the boat screaming!
4) Rubber cobras are sold in the other parks and people bring them to MK so be on the lookout.

MGM Studios:
1) The Great Movie Ride has the India Jones room and I think leaving that room the car goes through a giant cobra.
2) Rubber cobras are sold at a stand outside the Indiana Jones show.
3) Fantasmic has Jafar turning into a large cobra somewhere in it. I don't watch this part.

Epcot:
1) The Energy Pavilion has a big giant snake looking prehistoric serpent of some type when the ride goes through the dinosaur animatronic area.
2) Honey I Shrunk the Audience has a 3-D garden snake.

Animal Kingdom:
We had to leave because there were so many rubber snakes being swung around by people. I couldn't take it and was freaking out not enjoying anything.

It seems like I'm forgetting some things. I get laughed at and made fun of quite a bit (and it has happened here on the Disboards) for my fear of snakes. My fear is very real to me and your wife's level of phobia sounds pretty close to mine. I don't like being afraid of "pieces of rubber" and I wish I wasn't. I've almost been run over by a parade float because a kid came up beside me and had one wrapped around his neck and put the snakes head in my face. I was on the rope and it scared me so bad I flipped over the rope trying to run. Some CM's dragged me out of the way and they had seen what the kid did to me. Another time I got onto the tram and as I was sitting down a kid in front of me pulled one out of a shopping bag. I freaked and was trying to get off but my Dh was getting on and blocking my exit. I shoved him down and I fell off the tram skinning myself up.

BTMR at DL has rattlesnakes at the top of the 1st hill on each side of the track. Knowing this I avoid BTMR at WDW, too. DD and Dh insist there aren't any there, but knowing that they added them to the train ride I can't be too careful.

Sorry Simba22, you just don't know your "Fantasmic!" show very well. ;)

You mean you don't remember that right AFTER Jafar turns into a snake on the water-screens, we see him AS that snake, on-stage.
Mickey comes out and sees (and cowers) that HUGE slithering SNAKE (it must have nearly a DOZEN CM's "inside" it.)
"Snakey-Jafar" has SPOTLIGHTS for eyes (he scans the audience with them a couple of times as he "slithers" across the stage.)

Right then, Mickey discovers (and rubs) the Genie's Lamp.

Thank you all for the information. I'll let my wife know so she knows which places and rides to avoid.

Thanks!

Roland

Yes, I share that phobia as well. Although, over time I have learned to cope with the "fake" snakes and the TV/video shots, and kids' toys. If I know when the scene is coming, I do not watch or turn away. My real fear is running into a live one, no matter the size or poisonous nature of it. So, on the AK trails, are the "live" ones contained some way, or are they free to roam the park. (And, I understand that this being Florida, there is a risk one will show up uninvited anyway, and I have come to terms with that.)

I just find that a little preparation helps on this point.

If you see any snakes as part of the trail experience, they are in glass cases in some of the buildings along the path.

No "free-range" snakes. :goodvibes

Umm... what's Fear Factor?

It's funny, I read the title of this thread and couldn't imagine any shows with snakes in... then you read the thread and realise just how dumb you are and that they're all over WDW!!!

Wow, I'm surprised nobody mentioned the snake in Honey I Shrunk the Audience. I have seem many people jump when it appears on the screen.
