Is there a list somewhere that easily shows which rides would be okay for Grandpa to ride. He had a heart attack 8 years ago and Grandma is very concerned that they not go at all because of this.

Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

I really think that with a question as important as this you should ask his physician/cardiologist. They may have many restrictions for him or very few, but I would bet that the answer could vary a lot depending on the detailed history and condition of the individual patient.

We took Grandma and she has no heart problems but did not like some things.

She said Star tours made her dizzy.
Thunder railroad was too fast and scared her.
Splash was okay but only wanted to ride it once.
Dinosaur she really hated and said it jerked her a lot.
She didn't even try RNR or TOT or space mountain.

She did not try soarin but another woman was in the ride with us that they called Grandma and she kept her eyes closed the whole time. Think dizzy happens more the older you get.

I completely agree with Merriwind. Grandpa should talk to his cardiologist and get his/her advice. Only his doctor knows the full extent of Grandpa's condition and he can give the best advice.
I have had an angioplasty back in 1997 (another one later that year) and was concerned about our trip to WDW. My cardiologist told me at the time I had nothing to worry about and that nothing at WDW would harm me. I suggest that Granpa get the opinion of his doctor and not listen to anyone else.

We'll be dealing with the same thing in October when we go with my mom. She just had a pacemaker put in(she's 54). The doctor told her that any ride that would get her adrenaline pumping could be harmful since that would make her heart work harder and faster than normal. And her normal right now is not everyone else's normal. We figured that we'll be paying attention to the signs. It's going to be a hard trip for her though because she loves the roller coasters and now she'll have to sit out with my dad the "chicken". We're going to do our best to make this a great trip for her though. It's always a good idea to be overly cautious though.

But make sure the doc your grandpa talks to knows what kind of rides are at WDW. If they've never been and think all the rides are like Dumbo, the doc could be giving bad advice.

Well, if it helps at all, Dh's father had a heart attack and quadruple bipass less than 2 months ago. We're going in June with him. His doctor said "no problem". He can't ride anything that he has to strapped into across his chest...that's it. We plan on taking it easy, and resting a lot. Most rides, will be fine because they're slow. For example, in MK Peter Pan, Small World, Philharmagic, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hall of Presidents, the riverboat, Jungle Cruise, shows, etc. will all be fine because they are all calm sitting and slow rides. Avoid the mountains. At MGM, Little Mermaid, B&B, Great Movie Ride, all the shows....avoid ToT, RnRC, possibly Backlot Tour, but it would probably be okay for some of the examples listed. At AK, I would avoid most of the rides actually. Those would be on an individual basis depending on the situation. The safari should be okay, but very bumpy. At Epcot, Living with the Land, El Rio del Tiempo, Ellen's Energy, Figment would be fine. Avoid Mission Space, Test Track in most cases, and possibly Maelstrom depending on how extreme the situation. Overall, most rides are very tame and enjoyable to all. I wouldn't worry about it! Don't let them get too tired or hot, just like everyone else!!

My parents are in their 60's and this will be the 4th trip taken with them. My Dad had a quadruple bypass several years ago, and he also has a bad back. He will ride anything except for the Mts. and RNR. No "coaster" type rides. They love test track. Heck, they even rode Mission Space last trip, without us! My mom was fine, but it made my dad extremely dizzy, but he says he's glad he did it.
