Which rides first?

We will be at Universal 7-11 Aug staying at the RP. What rides should we head to first at both parks or does it really matter with FOTL.

Most people at IofA tend to 'do' the clockwise thing, starting at Marvel Super Hero Island and working round to Seuss Landing. I am not sure how busy it will be but, presumably, in August there will be a fair few there.

To avoid the crowds, you could work your way round anti-clockwise, doing Seuss Landing (to the right) first.

Alternatively, the 2 (IMO) best rides (Hulk and Spiderman) are pretty much immediately on your left as you go through the gates, so you could do those first and then go back to the right and continue round that way.

US is a lot more spread out but, again, I would head for The Mummy first (which, if I remember rightly, is pretty much straight ahead as you enter), then backtrack to do Terminator.

Not sure how FOTL works at US/IofA - is it the same as FP at Disney? If so, then FP Terminator and ride The Mummy or vice versa.

The rides with the longest wait times are usually: Mummy, Shrek, and MIB at Universal and Hulk, Spiderman, and Dueling Dragons at IoA. I'd try to get those rides over with first and in that order. For instance don't do Shrek at park opening as everyone heads there first. Do Mummy first and then go back to Shrek and then over to MIB. Same with IOA at park opening: Hulk first, then Spiderman, then DD.

If you can't get there as soon as the gates open, get express passes for those rides as soon as possible as they often run out before noon.

Both days we went a couple of weeks ago, Jimmy Neutron and the Mummy had the longest lines. We went to get fast passes for Jimmy Neutron at about 12:30 and the wait was 90 minutes and fast passes were for like 6:30. Shrek's wait wasn't as long.

We did Mummy first and went back later in the day and it was super crowded but we had gotten fast passes so we didn't have to wait.

Men in Black gets long as well but rides like E.T., Back to the Future, Terminator and Jaws didn't seem to have long waits no matter what time of the day it was. Especially E.T., I don't think the wait time ever went above 10 minutes.

Great advice. There is one other plan for those staying onsite that want front seat rides at IOA.
Arrive at 08:30am before the gate opens.
Hulk (front seat)
Pteranondon Flyers (before kid rule goes into effect)
Dueling Dragons (front seat on each side)

Then go back and do everything else. This plan skips around the park, so you may want to do this on a morning after you've visited once.
The plans already mentioned work very well.

If you are staying onsite with FOTL you dont need to get an express pass though. You just show your room key and go in the Express entrance. Is that correct? I've never been but will be there Aug 7-11 at RPR. That's how I understood it.

Correct. Universal Resort guests walk on to pretty much every ride by showing your resort ID at the ride's entrance. You automatically get to use the Express line. I know for a short while they began to limit it to only once per hour, but I believe it is now back to unlimited like it use to be. It is such an awesome perk, and one reason I usually stay at a Universal Resort for a night to do USF/IOA.

What does this mean?

To ride you need to have one member of your party to be between 36 and 56". Before there is a queue they usually overlook this rule so the first half hour after opening is usually open to anyone.

we never stood in line longer then 5 mintues for anyting at unversal it was great, and we didnt have any passes or keys or anything.. we just went the oppsite way from the crowd they all went straight and we went to the right.. the first ride we got on was the t2 ride
