Hi all. Which restaurant would you suggest for dinner one night - Skipper Canteen or Yak n Yeti? We have a 2 year old with us. We will be spending the day at AK and then either leaving to go to MK or staying at AK. Which of the two restaurants would you recommend? Thank you so much!

I have never eaten at Yak & Yeti, though it has a good reputation. It really just has sort of standard Asian cuisine that I can get locally. I think Skipper Canteen has a somewhat more unique menu, plus I like the vibe. That said, food only and based on reputation, I think Yak & Yeti has better execution. Skipper Canteen is a highlight at MK, though to be fair, that's not a high bar.

I will say which ever you can eat at earlier in the day with a 2YO as later times and that will likely be a nap.
Skipper canteen is definitely less visited.
With that Yak and Yeti is in the end is chain quality Asian food in other words if you live in an area that has good Asian food you will think it is OK at best. Skipper Canteen has a limited menu but is more unique in the end but some of the sauces they use can resemble PF Chang. Personally, we stopped going to Yak and Yeti years ago as the food changed. We also feel they are a number of great choices at AK -CS and TS. MK has few decent choices these with one being Skipper Canteen.
But as others have said it is really not worth leaving as neither is really worth a trip they are both OK but great if you do not have good local options.

Just about any non-Disney restaurant will have better food than any Disney restaurant, provided you're comparing similar types of places and price points.

Also, Skipper Canteen is considered good because it's being compared to other dreadful MK restaurants.

For us, Y&Y. The food is among the best Asian options we eat, and service has been terrific. We'd make a trip to AK to eat at Y&Y. We would not make a trip to MK just to eat at SC. Definitely take a look at the menus online so you can see what might be better for you and your family.

The one you are closest to!

Seriously: both are fine, and neither is life-changing. It is not worth a special trip to go from one park to the other just for one restaurant.

I don't know. I think SC is perfectly fine as far as the mid-price WDW places go. For example, I no longer feel the need to leave MK for one of the other area resorts for lunch. At least, not as often.

For a 2 year old I might put rainforest cafe in the mix. Yak and yeti is fine but nothing special, and personally I find it a bit salty. Food at RC is of similar quality (ie chain food and highly processed) but the kiddo would have more to look at.

No need to leave AK to go to MK just for dinner. Heck, if you were going to leave and go somewhere else I might take the opportunity to go to AKL for dinner instead because you are already on that side of the property.

Is this lunch or later in the day? If lunch, I’d stay in AK and do Y&Y or Tiffins if starting to like characters. Or if mealtime is stacked up on naptime, and can sleep in stroller, I’d do Nomad and lounge, while napping.

If later in day, and you are planning on MK anyhow, I’d make the ADR at SC, and get a Landrys card, that lets you walk up and get seated at Y&Y without an ADR, and then just be sure to cancel SC at least 2 hours ahead if going to YY instead. What I wouldn’t do is push a toddler past their meal / nap breaking point. Ask me how I know.

Again, if characters are starting to be a thing, you can get all the Pooh characters at Crystal Palace, and the characters are great with toddlers.

The CM's at Cantina have always been great with my kids, so they've earned my vote.
