We are doing a room only stay in February and want to visit AKL to see if it is where we want to stay for our 10 day trip in the fall....which restaurant is it that you can book at and get a view of the savannah while eating dinner?? if you request this at time of reservation how likely is it to happen??
thanks!

We ate at Sanaa last year and had a great view of animals so I assume it was the savannah. We did not ask for it, just got lucky which is the way I think it usually goes with these things at Disney. However, we also got a great view of the animals while we waited for our table.

The PP is correct. Sanaa is the only AKL restaurant where you have the opportunity to see the animals while you dine. Just remember that it gets dark really early in Feb, so you will need to schedule your ADR as early as possible. You can't see the animals once it gets dark (at least from the restaurant- you can see them with night vision binoculars elsewhere at the resort).

Sanaa is the only AKL restaurant with a view of the savannah. It is located at Kidani Village, not the main lodge building , Jambo House. If you will be using WDW transportation Kidani will be the first bus stop at AKL.

thanks!
Can u request a view when u book?
What time is good to see animals in late february....would we be better with lunch or dinner?

You can't make a request for a view when you book.

You can do so when you check-in to be seated.

We went for lunch. Got there a few minutes before opening and were seated right up next to the window! There was some big black bird (probably about 5 feet tall) with some beautiful plumage on it's head) that kept coming right up to "our" window. We really thought he was interacting with us, but were later told that he was reacting to his reflection in the glass. Could see zebras, ostriches, and many other animals in the distance. After lunch, we went outside and there were "guides" from Africa who pointed out many more animals and interesting facts. I wouldn't trade that lunch for anything!

As to what time to plan for Feb - I'm sorry but I can't answer that. We went in the summer.

I was advised by those in the know here on the Dis that it was more advantageous to see the animals for lunch, so that's what we did. If you go closer to dinner time, you may run the risk of the sun setting and not being able to see the animals at all.....

We have not tried Saana's yet but are on our next trip & also hoping to arrive early to request a window table.

However, we have eaten at Boma's at the AKL and while you cannot view the Savannah while you dine, you can walk outside and see the savannah very close to where the restaurant is either before or after you eat. We thought it was a very fun experience to explore that area of AKL.

Jiko's is the other TS at AKL if you prefer to not do the buffet at Boma's. Just making these as suggestions if you look over Saana's menu and find you don't like curry dishes or some of the other offerings.

As other poster noted, Sanna is not in AKL where Boma or Jiko's are located, but is in the Kidani Village.

AKL has three TS... Boma, Jiko, and Sanaa. Sanaa is the only TS that you can see the animals from. However, if you look over the menu at Sanaa and don't like anything or prefer Boma or Jiko (we love both Boma and Jiko), you can still explore the hotel and walk out to view the savannah before or after your meal. :goodvibes
