Which resort?

We were trying to decide between GF and the Swan for our 2nd honeymoon and vow renewal at disney. Now our VR is turning into a 3 ring circus with quite a few more people expecting to be invited (and already making plans) than we had expected. Looks like our two top choices for hotels might be out due to the price we will be paying for our VR. We are now considering a moderate or less costly deluxe. My question is what are the best moderate for a 2nd honeymoon? We stayed at POFQ last vacation and had some problems and DH does not want to stay there again. Do any moderates have boats to MK? Or resort only buses? (POFQ shares with POR and buses can get packed and come more sporatically, from our one experience). Any with really great pools?

Well.. to save money, I'd stay at the Swan... it looks like they are offering a really good deal right now.

As far as moderates.. no, there are no moderate resorts in the MK area.. another option may be for you to stay at the WL. They have boat access to the MK, and it is the cheapest of the deluxe resorts.

If you really want to do a moderate... perhaps you MAY be willing to try POFQ again.. the recent renovation sounds like the resort has been restored to glory! If not... try the CBR, I've heard that its like a smaller Poly, and can be quite romantic.

Good Luck!

I also would try to stay at the Swan. They often have rates that are equal to or less than the moderates. I also believe I've read about people getting married there, so you might want to check to see how much your vow renewal would be at the Swan. We love the Swan and its location. Give them a call and see what they can do for your VR. The staff is always very friendly and ready to answer any questions that you have.

Someone will know more about this than me, as I'm not sure I'm remembering this correctly...but isn't either Coronado Springs or Carribean Beach in walking distance to MK? This may be completely off, but for some reason I could have sworn I saw that on the boards at some point. No boats, though.

For a moderate I would have suggested POFQ since it is the smallest moderate and was recently renovated, but obviously that is out based on your last experience. I'm sorry GF is becoming a fading possibility, because that is the first spot that comes to mind when thinking wedding theme.

I agree that the Swan often has some good deals, particularly if you are a gov't worker, teacher, nurse, etc. There are some good startwood preferred guest deals on it every so often and I think there is a 50% off coupon in the Florida entertainment book--might be worth it to purchase one of those (around 30$) just for that discount alone.

I think that you might also be able to budget in the Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge for a less expensive deluxe. They tend to be the cheapest and have some really good off season prices (this August it was 114 a night for a standard, which is close to moderate range), plus...I have a feeling if you are having your second honeymoon you'd probably have a good chance of getting upgraded to a pool view (though no guarantee). The Wilderness Lodge has boats to MK. AKL is of course, pretty far from MK but it is a very romantic resort--probably the most secluded and romantic of any of them, due to the dim lighting and exotic theming. Both are beautiful hotels with very friendly CMs.

None of the moderates are within walking distance to any of the parks. They are all quite isolated in fact (except the PO boats to DD).

I would shoot for Wilderness Lodge if you want to be close to MK or the Swan if you prefer Epcot. AKL is nice but it's real isolated too.
