I am looking to go to wdw in August of next year! I have narrowed it down to two resorts the Polynesian or the animal kingdom lodge. It will be me and my bf and this will be his first time going! I just can't choose which one! Help please!

I have been to both and they each have something wonderful to offer... Just depends on what you are looking for. I know some people can not stand the room decor at Poly, but the location and view are incredible! I believe both are good choices for your BF's first visit.

Polynesian. It will be great to be on the monorail for a first visit. :goodvibes
Plus, the beach is very romantic. You can watch fireworks and the water parade at night in a swing for two or a hammock. :lovestruc

Do you have a budget? The Poly will be more $$ than AKL but it's such a beautiful resort. Both are great really. You have the ease of transportation at the Poly vs having to rely on buses for all the parks at AKL There are going to be some construction happenings at the Poly next year but I'm not sure on the timeline and if there will be anything next August. I imagine by then they would be finished or at least close to being finished

Never thought about that! I do remember reading about construction somewhere what exactly are they doing to the poly

Lots of rumors... Looks like the most accurate have construction going on starting in October this year, but the resort should be open and functioning. I hope I am not wrong as our family is planning to be there in August next year too!

Poly: Its a beautiful resort with great places to eat, monorail location, beach, pool...ect

Have a great time! :goodvibes

We've stayed at both and while AKL is a beautiful resort, we LOVE the Poly . I would definitely choose the Poly for the atmosphere, the pool, the beach, the larger rooms, and the monorail. There are rumors of a refurb/construction starting at the Poly in Oct or Nov, but I think I read recently that everything could be done by July of next year. Of course, without an official announcement from Disney as to a timeline, nobody really knows, but from what is being said now, it sounds like you should be ok going in August. Good luck deciding on a resort, but I'm sure you'll have an awesome trip no matter which resort you choose :wizard:.

Like everyone else I've stayed at both and prefer the Poly. It has great access to EPCOT and MK via monorail, not to mention boat service selections (either smaller boats or lg one at TTC) to MK. You also have a view of both Wishes and Electrical Water Parade at Poly. AND don't forget Ohana and Kona at your resort.

I did love the views in the AM and PM at the AKL. The decor is AMAZING at the AKL also. Food is just OK IMO at the AKL, not quite my style. Either way both are great, but I'm a Poly boy!!!

I'd go with Poly also. The location can't be beat and an easy ride on the monorail to check out the GF and CR.

Thanks everyone gave me things to think about! I was really only interested in the animals at akl. After everyone's posts I feel like poly would be the way to go!!
