Here's where I'd like to see an offsite property...
  • West Coast, near DL
  • Rocky Mountains, for skiing and hiking.. Maybe Colorado or Montana
  • New England
  • Castaway Cay.. This keeps coming up... I know this is near to logisticly impossible, but one can still hope..
I agree, I'd like to see another off site resort (and I'm really not interested in the repeated naysaying lines of how it will never happen :headache: ).

The Washington D.C. area would be nice, there is so much to see there. I like your Rocky Mountain idea. New York would be great. How about near the Grand Canyon.

How about a Disney Ship as DVC.

I voted for Contemporary, to be within walking distance of MK would be nice. There's plenty of room.

I voted for build another DVC resort. I'm not sure if they will really need another after SSR...at least until they add additional park attractions. I'd definitely like to see DVC in other off site areas of the US.

I completely understand the folks in the west wanting a west coast resort. We probably wouldn't go there more than once (unless we move closer)...but it seems like a viable option if it is close to Disneyland. A Rocky Mountain resort is something we'd definitely be interested in.

Personally, we look for things east of the Mississippi for yearly vacations...specifically mountains and beach! We'd definitely buy more points if there was a Gulf Coast resort.

I hope to see DVC expand its horizons in the timeshare market with resort options througout the US. I realize they are hesitant after HH and VB taking so long to sell. If they continue with upscale, higher end, service oriented resorts, I think they can do well. Sometimes I think that *not* having the Disney brand specifically associated with a new, non-WDW DVC resort might be a good idea. While we here at the DIS are generally Disney lovers, there is a significant percentage of people that would specifically choose something other than "Disney" when looking for a resort vacation. Just something to think about.

I would be very much against expansion outside of WDW. We bought DVC (and are paying exorbitant DVC prices) because we value staying on WDW property so highly, and we also enjoy condo style accommodations.

There are so many condos available at a small fraction of DVC pricing... that I have to ask myself: why on earth would I want to dilute my DVC points with more off-site options? It would only create a lot more demand and competition for on-site accomidations... and for the life of me I cannot figure out why I would want to spend my "expensive" DVC points when I could own non-DVC points MUCH cheaper, and stay in resorts that are nicer than DVC.

I guess that I feel once you leave WDW property... there is no magic that Disney provides. At best... they become run-of-the-mill... and expensive.

My $0.02... YMMV
