Which resort should I pick? Poly vs Swan

I think I've almost convinced my boyfriend to do a thanksgiving trip. I've been looking at hotels that are available and I'm leaning towards either a club level Polynesian room or a king bed room at the Swan.

It would be a short trip and I'm not sure if we'd even go into the parks. I made a reservation at Garden Grove at the Swan for the thanksgiving dinner.

I like that I can have a king bed at the Swan. But I don't like the resort fee and the parking fee. I stayed there once with a friend almost ten years ago.

I've never stayed at the Polyneasian. It looks like a king bed isn't even a possibility there, which is disappointing. But I like that it's club level, I think the food for lunch and breakfast would be really convenient. I also made a reservation at Citricos which would be easy to get to from there.

Which should I pick?

I would stay at CL in the Poly!! However, unless it has changed, the lunch time offerings at CL aren't really a meal - just chips and cookies and the like. Breakfast is great, though and the lounge is really nice for hors d'oeuvres in the evening.

The Swan is nice, too, but doesn't compare to the Poly CL!

So there's food only during set times? The dinner reservation I got was 7:30 so I figured we could go to the club for something to eat for lunch. Do you know what time they'd be servining anything? Breakfast would be great for the other days we stay there

I don't keep track very well, but it's something like:

Breakfast 7 -11 am
Snacks though the afternoon (cookies, home made potato chips, gummies - that sort of thing)
Hors d'oeuvres from 5 - 7 pm
desserts from 8-10 pm

You can check out the CL thread on this forum to get the exact hours, but I think that is pretty close.

Except for breakfast, the CL offerings are not supposed to replace meals. You also have beverages, both alcoholic and non alcoholic.

The Poly CL lounge is available throughout the day, but food is set out at certain hours. The views from the windows over the lagoon to the castle are spectacular. It is a really nice lounge. Also the CL building is very conveniently situated. Except for the Royal Palm Club in the GF, it is arguably the nicest CL experience in WDW.

I would plan to eat lunch somewhere other than the Poly CL, however. The Kona Cafe is good or you could walk over to the GF and eat lunch there, say at the Cafe. Alternatively, you could ride the monorail over to the CR to eat at the Wave which has some really good food, IMO. An uber to the AKL could be a fun outing where you could enjoy Sanaa for a delicious lunch! The various breads and dips are awesome there. For something light and quick, you could go to the quick service at any of the three monorail resorts.

So we ended up going with the Swan. I definitely think a stay at the Polynesian is in our future, but my boyfriend is a reward member of the Swan so we'll get upgraded and the entire stay there is one night's cost at Poly. Just means I need to schedule another trip

I would consider the Polynesian in case you change your mind about the parks. That way you can do one day at MK and get the EMH.

Swan qualifies for EMH.

I love the Swan! It's my favorite resort and I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does.
