Which resort instead of VGC?

We live in the West and have owned at VGC for quite a while. We have pushed and rescheduled a trip originally planned for May 2020 3 times now and I don't think by May 2021 Disneyland will be open yet.

With that in mind we are going to switch and go to WDW sometime late in March. We have been to WDW, but have never stayed with DVC there.

What resort (if available) do you think we should stay at? We will most likely visit all the parks, and will stay in a 1BR and do a lot of our own cooking.

The great thing about VGC is being able to walk everywhere so I would suggest a resort where you can walk to places. The Beach Club and Boardwalk spring to mind; the walk from the Beach Club to Epcot is almost as short as the walk to DCA from VGC. You can also walk to DHS from both of those resorts and you have the whole Boardwalk area on your doorstep.

BLT and Kidani are the WDW DVC 1BR with (2) full bathrooms like VGC.
Kidani savanna view is very unique and great for resort time but farther from parks.

BLT (and VGF) have the option to walk to MK, but need to bus or drive to other parks.

BCV would get you better park proximity to Epcot and DHS, and easy to try Skyliner, with the best pool complex.

Not sure what size villa you are looking for, but BLT and Kidani both have an extra bathroom in the 1BR, 2BR and GV. To me, that is important if I'm staying with more than two people.

The walk to MK is great from BLT...maybe 7 minutes.

Kidani is a bus ride or Uber/Lyft ride (which I prefer over the buses) to anywhere.

Keep in mind that if you use the buses, WDW recommends allowing 1.5hrs to get to your destination. This might sound crazy, but it really has taken us that long before (if you count from the time you leave your room to the time you are inside a park, etc.). WDW is much larger than Disneyland and bus service can be painfully slow.

If you want to walk to DHS and EP, stay at BCV or BWV.

You can't walk to AK from anywhere.
